Issei Hyodo is definitely going down history as one of the biggest anime perverts. On the flipside, both Rias and Akeno are loved by the fandom. In fact, there are multiple doujins focusing on them and get a lot of views. Presently, the lore has fallen off a bit but as soon as Season 5 returns, the fans will come back to it.
“Come for the ecchi, stay for the plot!” – this is a common saying in the anime fandom about High School DxD. Despite its outward appearance as one of the forerunners in the ecchi and harem genre, its plot has been praised too. Many fans are waiting to see how it progresses.
For the fans who are wondering if there will be a High School DxD Season 5, this post is for you and we have covered everything from the expected release date to cast, plot and trailer information.
2020 has been a little slow because of the growing pandemic and many anime series have been put on hold but finally, our favorite anime series like Overlord Season 4 and Demon Slayer Season 2 will be coming back and their release date will be announced soon as well.
High School DxD Season 5 Release Date:
No official announcement for Highschool DxD Season 5 has been made till now. The 4th Season aired in 2018. Due to its change in art style, it wasn’t super successful either. But the hopes are high for the fifth season and even though the fourth season didn’t do so good in terms of the number of streams and financially, we expect a season 5 to be in works as we speak.
If Season 5 does come, it will come somewhere between 2021 and 2022. The former seasons had an increasing gap between them: 1 year, 2 years, 3 years. So we expect High School DxD S5 to get released or air early 2022.
High School DxD Season 5 Details:
Plot:
Highschool DxD is a completed light novel consisting of 25 volumes and an ongoing manga adaptation. According to the author, it has 5 distinct story arcs. Season 1 through 4 meticulously covered up to Volume 10. In these 4 seasons, 3 of the arcs have been covered.
High School DxD S5 will cover the 4th arc – “Legend of Oppai Dragon and his Lively Companions”. An OVA is available that covers the various short stories from Volume 13. So essentially, Season 5 will start with Volume 14.
But it will also have to tie the knots from the previous volumes. Based on the author’s orders, a lot of the story has been retconned. It will be interesting to see how this issue is solved.
Season 5 will focus on Gremory Clan allying with Wizards and Vampires. Rias will face various challenges and will work hard towards solving them. Meanwhile, Issei will sharpen his own chessboard and he will face a lot of challenges ahead.
Episodes:
High School DxD Season 5 will consist of 12 episodes like usual. It will air these on TV. As for the Blu-ray and DvD sets, they will probably release a bunch of shorts and OVAs as bonus material. We believe these will contain the short stories from Volume 13.
Since there are only 12 episodes, there is no question of split course. This season will probably cover 2-5 volumes worth of story. Of the 8 parts in this arc, about 2 or 3 will be adapted. They will probably hire a scriptwriter and designer to work out the details.
Creators:
Genco used to be a consistent producer of this series, alongside Lantis and AT-X. However, Season 4 only had AT-X. We believe Season 5 will have AT-X and a couple of new producers to fund the project. And Funimation will be the Licensor as always.
The notable change in art style in Season 4 was due to the studio. The fans did not reciprocate. Studio TNK, who handles Season 1 to 3 did a great job. Compared to that, Studio Passione fell short. If they return for Season 5, they will have to do a sharper job.
Expectations are high for every anime series releasing on 2021 or 2022 and the same goes for High School DxD and also the upcoming Solo Leveling Anime.
Cast For Season 5:
- Hisaka Yoko will reprise her role of Rias Gremory.
- Issei Hyodo will be played by Yuki Kaji.
- Itou Shizuka will be back to play her role as Akeno Himejima.
- Taketatsu Ayana will be playing Koneko.
- Asia Argento will be played by Asakura Asumi.
Other than this, multiple other voice actors will return for their respective roles.
High School DxD Premise:
