The One Piece world is vast and deeply interconnected, thanks to Oda sensei’s supreme worldbuilding. And today, we are going to share a theory that genuinely changes our perspective completely, thanks to how all the clues converge at one point!
The theory ahead is provided by One Piece YouTuber Ohara. All of the theory information down below has been taken from his video and credits go to him alone. He, however, took some information off Reddit!
Information is power. In One Piece, the world government freely releases and suppresses information according to their benefit, and all opposition is removed.
However, even in this situation, Big News Morgans continue to publish the truth, eventually gaining a monopoly over the newspaper business.
His ingenious methods of distribution, coupled with his incredible strength and guile make him the world’s best reporter. However, there are so many hidden clues that point to him being a Roger Pirate, who is still continuing on with his captain’s will.
Morgans: A Former Roger Pirate
There are reasons why he is very likely, a member of the world’s most infamous crew, the Roger Pirates. Morgans has, in the past, sailed with Gol D Roger, Rayleigh, Shanks, and the others. And he is probably one of these 4 – Momora, Isaac, Spencer, or Petermoo!
But why so? Well, let us get into the reasons. Years ago, Roger and his crew sailed the seas and reached the end, which is Lodestar Island. He then realized that it is not the final island, after which he finally went there, which took even more time.
Eventually, Roger found the One Piece and laughed heartily. In lieu of that, he named it Laugh Tale. This also gave him the title of Pirate King and his infamy spread all over the world. But how did it spread? Through the news!
If Roger did not have the newspaper telling the world of his deeds, no one would believe him. Even back then, there were pirates on the seas and they found treasures. Roger alone found the One Piece and became the King – this got out, all thanks to the newspaper spreading the news like wildfire.
And how will the newspaper know of his achievements or believe it? Only if they have an insider! Morgans was probably the young reporter whom Roger allowed on the ship; along with the crew, Morgans went to Laugh Tale and witnessed everything. He then did his job and spread this news worldwide.

Morgans and the next Pirate King
Thanks to Oden’s backstory, we know that Roger reached Laugh Tale prematurely. He was then waiting for the correct person, who would come along 20 years later.
Roger believed that this person would be his son, Ace. When he had to leave the ship, he passed on his will to his crew, preparing them for Joyboy’s arrival.
And we can see how he did it. He passed on his signature hat to Shanks, tasking him with finding this destined person. Shanks would pass on the hat to this person, making him recognizable to all the other crew members, spread across the world.
We saw Crocus at the beginning of the journey to the grand line. We saw that Rayleigh was waiting at the halfway point. And in this fashion, Gaban is probably waiting at the endpoint, which is Lodestar island, hoping to tell this person how to get to Laugh Tale.
Even Oden wanted to open the Borders of Wano, to help this person!
This pattern is perfect. Morgans has been the one who has made Luffy so popular. Time and time again, he posted Luffy’s bounty, with his strawhat showing. Even though Gorosei wanted the D initial gone, like how they said it’s Gold Roger, Luffy was always named Monkey D Luffy on his posters.
After Marineford, Luffy had his picture taken to connect to his crew across the world. However, this idea belonged to Rayleigh.
Secretly, Rayleigh also spread this news to his crew members, telling them that Joyboy is okay and will continue on. All of them believe the news spread by Morgans because they trust their former crewmate.
Morgans was the first one to declare Luffy an emperor. It was not official back then, but after the Whole Cake Arc, thanks to the newspaper, Luffy became an unofficial Yonko! Despite never meeting Luffy, Morgan was always confident that the next Pirate King is coming soon.
And thus, there is a very strong possibility that Big News Morgans is a part of the Roger Pirates, still carrying on the will of his old captain.
One final clue is that Oda sensei exclusively stated that he is not a bird, but a man with the Albatross Zoan. And in order to hide his identity, Morgans constantly stays in his Zoan form!
