Today we will be discussing the upcoming One Piece Chapter 988 spoilers and raw scans release date. Fans are extremely excited about Kaido finally fighting seriously. Everyone is getting hyped as the war is breaking out on multiple fronts.
This chapter is a true testament to the strength of the scabbards and Oden himself. Even after 20 years, Kaido remembers Oden clearly. In fact, it is sort of a post trauma stress disorder for the Yonko. His 20 year old scar is paining!
The beast pirates are dumbfounded right now. They are being skewered from multiple angles. Their leader is injured. Their new ranks have turncoats involved. It will be a while before they can hit back properly. And that is why this had to be a surprise raid. The shock factor is contributing in thinning out the opponent forces.
Chapter 988 brings us closer to the end of Wano Act 3. As we already said, we believe Act 3 will be a deeply tragic one with everything falling apart. But we can’t get ahead of ourselves. A lot of battles need to be fought and a lot of time needs to be spent before we can end Act 3.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the One Piece 988 spoilers and we will make sure to share all of that here so that you can read it as soon as possible, but since there is a break next week, there might be some time before we get to see and read the English raw scans.
The sulong for of the Mink tribe will be a sight to behold and even though the power they possess when they transform is terrifying, somehow it doesn’t feel like they will play a big part, there are speculations rising on the internet about Kaido even destroying the moon, how great would that be right?

One Piece Chapter 988 Release Date:
Weekly Shonen Jump is on a break next week. One Piece 988 raw scans and spoilers will be released on 19 August 2020. They will be uploaded by August 20. Now these are just raws. They need to be scanlated for fans to enjoy.
The scanlation teams will work on these raws and release various translations. French and Korean should be out by 20th. English translations will arrive on August 21, 2020.

One Piece 987 Recap:
As the Scabbards attack Kaido, he recalls his traumatic battle with Oden. Oden’s attack that gave him his scar, Oden’s last words, Kaido acknowledging their strength – all this appears in the Yonko’s mind. As he falls from the stage, the scabbards try their best to injure Kaido. The beast pirates realise that a raid is taking place.
Kiku pierces Kaido’s hand. Neko injures the other one. Raizo tries to slash his throat with 2 blades. Kaido is dumbfound. He wonders how their blades can pierce him, whether they can use Ryuo. His scar from Oden is paining again. They all fall down to the basement.
The beast pirates move in to attack the scabbards but they are intercepted by Hyogoro and the old Yakuza. As Yamato tries to join, Ulti finds and attacks her. Ulti is mad about Yamato attacking her. Yamato declares that she has switched sides and will become Kozuki Oden.
Big Mom rushes in at Luffy. She wonders if Kaido is dead. Nami and Carrot use this chance to free themselves from the Yokai. Kaido praises the scabbards for executing the raid so well. He acknowledges their 20 years of pain and effort. But he says that Pirates will always betray – when Luffy sees the scabbards fail, he will ditch them.
Kinemon retorts that Luffy is different and will bring the dawn to Wano. He adds that Luffy will stand at the helm of the oceans and he will be remembered for ages. Big Mom asks Luffy why he came to Wano. Luffy says that he is there to take them all down – Big Mom, Kaido, Orochi and their lackeys – he declares an all-out war on all of them.
Right then, the Samurai reinforcements arrive, shocking the Beast pirates. Zoro, Kidd, Law, they’ve all cleared their areas. Marco and Perospero have made a temporary alliance. A battle breaks out as the feast ends early. Kaido realizes what Luffy has done.
Kaido enters his Dragon mode and bursts out. The scabbards latch on to him. Luffy assures Kinemon that he will follow them shortly. Kaido is ready to fight and he is not drunk anymore. He reaches the top of the Onigashima skull dome.
Kaido reminds the scabbards that Oden isn’t there to protect them. He will kill them all. But the Minks are waiting. Nekomamushi points out that they knew Kaido would come out to fight since his giant dragon form can’t fit inside. And as it happens, it is a full moon night!
Read One Piece 988 Spoilers & Predictions
The spoilers for manga chapter 988 will be releasing very soon. The earliest date is around 17th but it is very unlikely. We can guarantee that the raw scans will be there by the 19th. Here are our predictions
Let us start this section with some debunking. A lot of powerscalers are downplaying the chapter since Kaido got injured. One Piece Manga 988 will show Kaido’s true strength so we have to wait for it. Nevertheless, let us look at 2 explanations that properly fit the powerscaling.
A take on Scabbards vs Kaido from the One Piece subreddit:

We believe One Piece 988 will show us Nekomamushi and Inuarashi’s Sulong form. This is probably the idea Neko got when he was talking with Marco and Izo. Sulong significantly boosts the power of the Mink tribe and so, they can be a far better challenge for Kaido.
If you notice carefully, you’ll see that all the scabbards are somewhat injured. This hasn’t been explained yet. Maybe it is a sacrificial play for them. Or maybe Kaido’s external haki is damaging them. Or maybe it’s just because they fell from a high spot.
We believe One Piece Chapter 988 will show a tough fight between Kaido and all the scabbards. Initially, the scabbards will succeed in injuring Kaido, especially with 2 sulong warriors. But, the end result is something we’re sure of. Kaido will take the scabbards and he will squash them thoroughly. He is the strongest creature. A mere 9 scabbards can’t stop him.
But Kaido isn’t in this battle alone. There are so many other pieces in play here. We can see that both Zoro and Kidd has met up with allies and cleared their respective areas off Gifters. We also saw Law with another man. There is a big chance that this guy is Basil Hawkins. Law was captured by Hawkins but he broke free.
Back then Law did not kill Hawkins. Maybe they actually formed an alliance. And after all, Hawkins was targeting Shanks, not Kaido. Additionally, we believe there is a temporary alliance between Drake and Law so that they can benefit off their targets.
One Piece 988 spoilers might show Shinobu sneaking in to save Momonosuke. The All-Stars are around that place and we will probably see some strong fighters engaging these Calamities. Meanwhile, Yamato has to deal with Ulti. The latter is an angry and ardent follower of Kaido. She will do her best to defeat Yamato.
Note that Franky and Brook are missing for multiple chapters. And we know Brook knows the location of the poneglyph – Franky knows the layout of Kaido’s castle. Together they can go and retrieve the poneglyph print and bring it to Robin, who is also hidden right now.
One Piece Chapter 988 might explain the bizarre alliance between Marco and Perospero. Now obviously Perospero wouldn’t dare to fight against Big Mom; plus he wants to see Kaido go down. But Big Mom wants the opposite. So its is a confusing alliance that needs to be cleared up.
Lastly, we have our protagonist Luffy. Our hero just declared an all-out war. He clearly stated his intentions of beating Big Mom, Kaido, the Wano Shogunate, and bring a new dawn to the country. And that is probably why Kinemon speaks so highly of him. Luffy is probably the person Oden talked about.
Since Luffy plans to take out Big Mom and Kaido in one fell swoop, we are forced to wonder if he has more backup. He can hardly beat Katakuri as he is right now. Isn’t Big Mom and Kaido together too much to handle? Does he even have the manpower to control the fight? Or does he have a proper battle plan? We will find out soon enough.
Who will fight Big Mom?
As we discussed above, even though Luffy is strong, he is not strong enough to take down both of the Yonkos at once. As the Wano arc comes to a close, Luffy will surely attain the power equal to or above a Yonko, but there is no way he is defeating Big Mom on Wano.
We know that Luffy wants to be the one to defeat all the Yonkos and this is why I don’t think Big Mom will be defeated here. She will be on the sidelines in the wano fight even though she agreed to ally with Kaido.
For now, we think Marcos and his crew will fight Big Mom and her crew while the samurai mink pirate and ninja alliance will take care of Kaido because he is the main character of this Wano arc.
The upcoming Chapter 988 will reveal who will fight who and how effective the mink sulong form will be against the beast pirates. All we can wish is for them to take down even one All-star.
One Piece Battle Theories:
Usopp and Chopper are together in battle Franky. It is a formidable weapon that was able to faze even Big Mom for a while. Last time we saw them, they were going through a bunch of gigantic people. We know the numbers are quite large and one might mistake them for giants.
So this means pretty soon, Usopp and Chopper will be taking on one or several of the numbers. Maybe that will reveal the ‘important’ thing that the Numbers had for Kaido. Plus, if Usopp can beat them successfully, he will truly become a brave warrior of the seas. Then he can sail to Elbaf with his head held high.
