Rumble Garanndoll’s New PV Previews Japan without Any Manga or Anime
Once in a while, there comes a series whose premise is too unique, even by anime standards. This season’s Rumble Garanndoll is certainly one of them.
In this world, Japan is conquered by an alternate version of the country known as “Shinkoku Nippon,” which invades through a dimensional rift. They use gas weapons called “Genmu” and giant humanoid “Garan” weapons against which all modern weaponry is useless.
After a decade, the revamped state has harsh censorship, and all manga, anime, idols, and related subcultures are banned. A secret society, Arahabaki, rises against the government with Garanndoll weapons powered by battery girls.
The official website for Rumble Garanndoll has released a promotional video for the series. The upcoming anime will premiere on October 11, 2021.
The PV introduces us to several underground society members who maintain the otaku culture in secret. They are part of the Arahabaki resistance and pilot cute-looking mechas known as Garanndoll.
The PV also previews the opening theme for the series “Fever Dreamer” by Mia REGINA.
The anime’s first episode will be pre-screened on the Kadokawa Anime channel on October 3, 2021, from 20:00 JST.
As you would expect from a Studio Lerche anime, the animation looks crisp as usual. The character design especially stands out as you would expect from Akio Watanabe(Monogatari Series).
You can almost tell that you’re going to like a character from the design alone, like Balzac Yamada, the commander of the Arahabaki resistance, who gives lowkey Kamina vibes.
Masaomi Ando and Studio Lerche Pair Up to Produce Original Anime; Mysterious Visual Revealed
This is an anime original, so we don’t really know what to expect. Hopefully, it will be as good as some other Lerche classics.
About Rumble Garanndoll
Rumble Garanndoll is an upcoming original Japanese anime television series animated by Studio Lerche.
The story begins in 2019, just before the change in historical eras for Japan. A rift to another dimension suddenly opens in the skies above, revealing a “turnabout” alternate world called “Shinkoku Nippon.” This parallel version of Japan maintained its militarism and remains stuck in the Showa era. Shinkoku Nippon invades Japan with its “Genmu” gas weapons and giant humanoid “Garan” weapons. The invaders immediately take over our government and all but conquer Japan.
A decade later, our Japan has been revamped as Genkoku Nippon, a puppet state of Shinkoku Nippon. Under harsh censorship, the once-thriving manga, anime, idol, and similar sub-cultures have completely died off … or so it seemed. A secret society named Arahabaki rises up to resist Shinkoku with Garanndoll weapons powered by “battery girls.”
