Studio Colorido’s Film Drifting Home to Exclusively Stream on Netflix
Studio Colorido, the minds and hands behind anime hits such as A Whisker Away and Star Wars: Vision, is creating another exciting new movie for Netflix titled “Drifting Home.”
Revealed at Netflix’s global fan event “TUDUM,” “Drifting Home” is being helmed by director Hiroyasu Ishida and is slated to premiere in 2022. Additionally, a key visual and a trailer was also released.
The key visual was drawn by Mr. Kato.
Not only the charm of the character, but also the finish as a final illustration, with the cooperation of Mr. Nagae and Mr. Mikan, etc., they are summarized in a good form ^ ^
Thank you!
It is also interesting that the “drifting housing complex” becomes “Drifting Home”, which seems to be overseas.English Translation, Twitter Translate
The key visual features the six primary characters of the anime, but Netflix has only introduced the two main characters, namely Kosuke (white shirt) and Natsume (salmon shirt). In the visual, we see each of them trying to get hold of their friend as they fall against the backdrop of a vast blue ocean with no land in sight.
The trailer has quite an adventurous tone as Kosuke and Natsume find themselves in the middle of an ocean. Throughout the trailer, we get a glimpse of the perils and gut-wrenching moments that lay ahead of them.
The striking imagery of an apartment complex drifting through the ocean and the aesthetic animation technique of Studio Colorido have already left me in awe.
A Whisker Away Review: Is It Worth Watching?
According to Netflix, the plot of Drifting Home is as follows:
The story begins one summer day when Kosuke and his friends visit an abandoned apartment building but soon find themselves in the middle of a strange phenomenon. Now stowed away in a drifting apartment complex, Kosuke and his friends must somehow find their way home.
Though the studio hasn’t revealed the cast or the actual release date, the trailer and visuals are genuinely breathtaking, much like Colorido’s previous works. If, like me, you too are fans of their animation work, be sure to keep your eyes and ears sharp for any news.
