Sports anime have been standing in the spotlight for a few years now and don’t you think that it is just the perfect time for WInd Breaker to get an anime adaptation?
Windbreaker focuses on fixed gear street racing, a sport that is not easily seen in anime. The story plays with a variety of races and opponents which makes it interesting.
Even though it is solely based on street racing, it gives equal time for the characters to build up their presence in the story through interactions and actions. The story also moves into genres like drama, romance, friendship, and comedy.
The plot is wonderfully paced with all elements as it embraces them naturally, and adding to it the intense heat of sports makes Wind Breaker a wonderful webtoon.
There is news of Solo Leveling Anime and The Boxer Anime getting announced soon as well, maybe around the same time as the Wind Breaker season 1 announcement?

Wind Breaker Season 1 Plot
The story starts around Jay who is good at studies getting A grades and is currently the Student Body President of Sunny High. He led the normal life of a perfect student but one day, he gets forced into joining the school’s biking team, The Hummingbird Crew after losing a bet.
Jay suffers the burden of all expectations put on him to achieve the highest rank in school and has not known anything about the world outside his books.
Feeling his first moment of thrill while racing, he reluctantly joins the team only to come across his unique technique of cycling and making memories all the way.
Jay gradually forms a close relationship with his team members Minu, Dom, Vinny, Shelly, and June who become a big part of his life and help him explore a more fantastic world outside the comfort of his books.
Sprinkling in some romance between the characters and going in-depth about their backstories evokes some mixed feelings which all clear away when the race starts and everyone is overwhelmed with the passion of street racing.
The plot is extremely simple but the depiction of its several life values by putting cycling as its base structure is what makes it unique.
The release date and English preview of the popular Wind Breaker Anime will be announced very soon. Maybe once it crosses the 500-chapter mark. So stay tuned with Orianime.
