Netflix’s ‘The Way of the Househusband’ Anime: Why Fans Are Disappointed

One of the many anime shows that Netflix had planned for 2021, The Way of the Househusband premiered on 8th April.

Here’s the synopsis:

This world-class househusband was once a feared legendary member of the yakuza! “The Way of the Househusband” is the long-awaited anime adaptation of the cozy gangster comedy manga about “The Immortal Dragon,” a former yakuza member whose incredible feats are still talked about in the underworld, spending his daily life as a househusband!

It was adapted from a manga of the same name, by Kōsuke Ōno. The manga has been successful in Japan. Fans are also excited because the lead is voiced by Kenjirou Tsuda. Tsuda is the voice actor for Jujutsu Kaisen’s Nanami andAttack on Titan’s Hannes.

According to rumours, the Netflix anime will have a total of 10 episodes.

However, as the first episode aired, many viewers were unhappy. This was mainly because of the animation.

The viewers’ complaints are understandable, since there is barely any actual animation- just moving pictures.

But some believed that it was Netflix’s fault for wrongly marketing it as an anime:

 Nonetheless, fans were invariably disappointed:

In fact, the trailer itself had set off warning bells for many:

J.C. Staff, which has produced shows like Toradora, Danmachi, and Shokugeki no SoumaTheir work was disappointing, so it wasn’t a surprise that people went against them as well:

Either way, the only thing we can do is wait and watch the five available episodes.
