Berserk Manga: Returns With “Special Edition” Volume This Year
After the death of Kentarou Miura, the Young Animal magazine and manga creator Kouji Mori announced to return with Berserk Manga. They are looking forward to continuing the world that the late Miura created. Due to acute aortic dissection, Miura passed away on May 6, 2021. Back in 1988, Miura launched the one-shot version of the manga. It was published in Hakusensha’s Monthly Comicomi magazine. Later in 1989, he released the full manga series in Monthly Animal House magazine. The series continued till now. Later in 2018, Hakusensha came up with the 40th volume in Japan. Later Dark Horse Comics got the license of the manga series. So they came up with the same volume. It was shipped to North America back on October 8, 2019.

Recently Hakusensha’s Young Animal manga creator Kouji Mori dropped that they would continue with late Miura’s manga. It will release this year’s 13th issue on June 24. He said the manga would start with six chapters. Later, it will continue with the series to the end of the Fantasia Arc/Elf Island Chapter. After then, they will begin the new story arc. The manga will give credit to the late Kentarou Miura.
Kouji Mori supervises it under Studio Gaga’s production. Well, Studio Gaga had worked with Miura before. So they knew about the plot details of Berserk. Mori also stated that Studio Gaga had an idea about the story arc at its very end. So they could draw a one-shot manga. That will tell the lifelong friendship and creative relationship of them with Miura.
In the press release, Mori also cited that he had discussed the ending of the manga series with Miura. They discussed it till the manga’s iconic “Eclipse” event 30 years ago. But, after Miura’s death, he decided to discuss the ending in an interview or come up with some illustrations in some articles. But later, he felt like it was insufficient. So he decided to collab with Studio Gaga. So now they could reach his vision to the audience. Mori and the Young Animal editing department also confirmed that they wouldn’t deviate from Miura’s words.

Berserk Manga: New Volume Will Return
Apart from this, the editorial department also revealed that the 41st volume would also return. It was shipped to Japan on December 24, 2021. Now Dark Horse Comics will release the 41st volume. It will be on air this November. It will have both regular and special editions. The special edition includes a drama CD and special canvas art. Mr. Miura drew it. The drama CD has the manga’s key “Awakening” chapter. It also has the return of the anime’s cast. It will be seen in the new anime. The new anime is based on Miura’s anime series. Apart from this, Makoto Fukami will also return to pen the drama CD’s script.
