One Piece, Sailor Moon, Attack on Titan Authors Create Olympics Artwork!
While the pandemic was raging throughout the world, Japan fought tooth and nail to give the world a ray of hope through the Tokyo Olympics.
To the delight of the world, Japan has successfully arranged the Olympics! To commemorate Japan’s victory over the pandemic, some of the most famous mangakas have revealed new illustrations!
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics Official Program manual was released on 13th July by Kadokawa before the event is held from 23rd July to 8th August 2021. The book covers all the events, schedules, rules, and even highlights from past Olympics.
However, what will draw the otakus to this special event is that this book contains illustrations by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, Naoko Takeuchi, Eiichiro Oda, and Hajime Isayama!
So let’s start off with Attack on Titan’s author, Hajime Isayama. Isayama has drawn a very detailed poster on sport climbing that shows us the thrill of it.
Next up is Sailor Moon’s creator, Naoko Takeuchi with her skateboarding illustration. The funk and joy of skateboarding are really visible through the artwork.
How can we forget about One Piece’s Eiichiro Oda? Oda has created a stunning poster for Karate with a detailed art style that screams One Piece.
Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the creator of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, has also devoted himself to creating surfing artwork. With the rush of waves, I am also getting excited for the upcoming Olympics!
All these artists have created commemorative illustrations in their own styles and each of them is unique. We can see their specific manga styles bleeding into the projects.
I am proud to see how the mangakas are trying to instill a sense of hope and wonder into us through their efforts.
