Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, the Witty and Pessimistic Anime, Receives Blu-Ray!
We all had a day in our life when we wished we were dead. However, for Itoshiki Nozomu, that thought occurs every day!
Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei is one of the best seinen series. Its suicidal and pessimistic protagonist, Itoshiki Nozomu sensei’s antics, seems comparatively sane in the context of his unlikely and abnormal students.
The series has a setting of modern Japan and its coverage of the enigmatic Japanese life and culture has established it as a juggernaut and a must-watch for anyone interested in the satirical slice of life genre.
According to Right Stuf and Nozomi Entertainment, the Sayonara Zetsubou series will get a Blu-Ray Disc release with new subtitles with its three seasons and two OVAs.
The news was made public in a recent behind the scenes video by Right Stuf, where the producer Judy informed fans about the progress made in translation and adaptation of the series for Blu-Ray.
Right Stuf and Nozomi Entertainment announced at the AnimeExpo 2019 that they had brought the license to distribute the Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, and other notable anime such as:
- AD Police
- El Hazard – The Magnificent World
- El Hazard 2 – The Magnificent World
- El Hazard: The Alternative World anime
However, the producers could not procure the script of the series, which led to the translation process being done by ear for all the episodes, which led to more delays and waiting time for the fans.
Additionally, this is not the first time that fans of Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, had been let down. Previously, Media Blasters licensed the first series in North America but never released it.
However, the companies seem more confident this time.
