The next big anime from Mappa studios is going to be Chainsaw Man. The trailer of the upcoming anime alone was enough to shake the internet. Mappa studios have released promising hits like Jujutsu Kaisen, Banana Fish, Yuri On Ice. As a result, fans everywhere are excited to see its take on the dark manga series. Chainsaw man is based on the famous manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The manga began serializing every week in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine starting from December 2018. So far, the manga has put out eleven volumes. A second part of the manga will release this year.

Chainsaw Man Anime Release Window Announced!

Chainsaw man is one of the high-ranking manga series. The popularity of the manga series inspired an anime adaptation. The Weekly Shonen Jump made the announcement in two issues. The first issue teased important updates for the Chainsaw Man manga in the next issue. As promised, the next issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine confirmed the rumors that the manga is getting an anime adaptation. The announcement was made years ago, in December 2020.

Mappa Studios is producing and animating the series. Mappa is famous for its work on Jujutsu Kaisen, Dororo, Yuri On Ice, and many more. Due to the high standards of the studio, fans are expecting a perfect adaptation of the manga. Ryu Nakayama is directing the anime. Joining him is Makoto Nakazono, who is working as the chief episode director. In addition, Hiroshi Seko is the screenwriter for the series. Mappa Studios made a recent announcement that revealed a release window for the upcoming anime. The studios unveiled the news at an event for Jujutsu Kaisen on February 12, 2022.

Production Details!

Chainsaw man anime was first announced in December 2020. The manga was still in the early stages of production in December 2020. However, months later, the series put out its first teaser trailer. The tenth anniversary Mappa Stage live event has streamed the trailer on June 27, 2021. The recent Jujutsu Kaisen event on February 12, 2022, has finally revealed a release window for the most-awaited anime. With the release window already decided, it is assumed that the anime is going towards its last stages of production. The popular studio will soon finish the editing process and do the finishing touches before preparing it for release. 

What Will Happen In The Anime?

Chainsaw Man anime will draw its story from the manga series of the same name. The dark fantasy horror anime is set in a fictional 1997. The Earth is full of devils in disguise. These devils are real manifestations of human fears. The stronger the fear, the stronger the devil. These devils migrate from Earth to hell. When killed in hell, the devils migrate to Earth, and when killed on Earth, they migrate to hell. While on Earth, these devils form contracts that allow humans a share of their power. 

The story follows Denji, who has to work for the Yakuza to clear off the debt of his dead father. He has to hunt devils and get them to the Yakuza, who will then form contracts with the captured devils for their power. Denji goes on these devil hunts together with Pochita, the manifestation of the fear of Chainsaw. On one such hunt, the Yakuza betray him and kill him to get to the Zombie Devil. Pochita then forms a contract with him and makes him the Chainsaw man. Denji then joins the Public Safety Division, the official government hired devil hunters. The rest of the story follows his adventures in the Public Health Division and his relationships with other characters.

Chainsaw Man: Manga Compared To Anime

Many observant fans of the Chainsaw Man manga have spotted similar cuts from the trailer and the manga. The scenes from the trailer help to estimate how much content the anime will adapt from the manga series. The trailer has featured fan-favorite characters such as Power, Aki, Kobeni, and Makima. It showed these characters in different scenarios, which hint at the arcs the anime will adapt. 

The trailer included various scenes from chapters 1, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 18, 19, 27, 33 and 38. The short clip included Kobeni, who is introduced in the Bat Devil Arc. In addition, in a later scene, the bat devil itself also makes an appearance. This confirms that the anime will feature the bat devil arc. Moreover, the trailer also included some key scenes from the Katana Man arc. Hence, the anime will adapt chapters 1 to 39. These chapters span the Intro Arc, Bat Devil Arc, Eternity Arc, and lastly, the Katana man arc.

Mappa Studios has done impressive work on adapting the two-dimensional manga into something more amazing. The studio stuck to the original designs from the manga and stayed true to its source. It has teased some of the most important scenes from the manga. The animation of the devils also looks very interesting. If the anime continues to follow the trailer, it will become one of the best anime to come out this year.
