Billions Coming Back With Sixth Season
Billions will be returning on Showtime with the sixth season. Bobby Axelrod and Chuck Rhoades’ longstanding rivalry is coming back to television screens all guns blazing. Season six will see Damien Lewis and Paul Giamatti coming back to the show along with Asia Kate Dillon, Maggie Siff and David Costabile.
Corey Stoll, who debuted as Mike Price in the show’s fifth season has been made a series regular in the sixth season. It seems that the business tycoon will play a very important role in the upcoming season.
Seven episodes of the fifth season have already aired in 2020. The remaining will air sometime in 2021.
When Billions first premiered in 2016, it became one of the most-watched shows on Showtime. The charm lay in the ambiguously grey characters in the series. On one hand, there was Chuck Rhoades, a brilliant lawyer who is bent on putting away wealthy criminals, on the other was Bobby Axelrod, an apparently generous hedge fund manager and billionaire who resorts to bribery and extortion in secret. The two made the perfect duo.
The clash of the Wall Street guys with the Feds was incredibly satisfying to watch. However, since season three, the plot has been weakening and the focus is more on the side characters, rather than Chuck and Bobby.
Ratings have been decreasing for a while for Billions. It will not be surprising if the show’s sixth season is the last.
Billions is available to stream on the Showtime OTT and fuboTV.
Do you still watch Billions? Do you think season 6 can redeem the show?
