However, the Tokyo One Piece Tower has closed its doors permanently, five years after the themed park was inaugurated. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, daily life has been disrupted and public gatherings have become dangerous.

Eiichiro Oda posted a message for fans on the official Twitter account of One Piece that the Tokyo One Piece Tower closed on 31st July 2020.

Who would have imagined that a world like this would come! I couldn’t go there even though it’s fun. It’s a shame, but it’s been 5 years! It’s been 5 years with so many fans’ memories.

The actors of the stage that continued to work every day, the many attractions, the power of the staff that supports it!! It was a very pleasant time, and I think that it was probably a dense time with no regrets. Do one more thing for me, give a big thanks to everyone.

I’m looking forward to the day when I can meet you in another way. Thank you so much for creating a fun space for 5 years!!

2020.9 Eiichiro Oda.

For him, the hard work and performance of the staff made the time spent with the park concentrated with joy. He thanks the staff while asking fans as well to thank them for one last time.

The official website of One Piece also announced the unfortunate closing down of Tokyo One Piece Tower.

The “Tongari Island” has closed down, but the “Cafe Mugiwara” and “Straw Store Tokyo One Piece Tower” will remain open for fans.

The pandemic has endangered a lot of attraction parks and other industries already, and the Tokyo One Piece Tower is its latest victim.

Combining the maintenance cost and the lack of funds, it is visible that the park has permanently closed down due to the amount of loss it has faced.
