Leif Ericson Is Concerned About Other People
Though not a fighter, Leif Ericson once reached the New World as a skillful navigator and sailor. He made friends with the locals and left wearing a headpiece and carrying a pipe. Although he has a minor part, he does so with integrity.
It took years, but he eventually tracked down Thorfinn after feeling guilty about Thors’ death and picking up the sword to save him from his isolation. Leif is now too old to leave his Greenland farm, so he helps Thorfinn in spirit.
Thorfinn Was Encouraged To Keep On By Snake
Thorfinn and Einar were harassed by the irreverent Olmar and the dishonorable Fox. There is no new foster father or companion in Thorfinn’s life named Snake. He has strong morals and won’t stand for the torture or murder of innocents.
By challenging Thorfinn to defend himself in a brief combat, Snake helped Thorfinn gain confidence in his own abilities. Snake inspired Thorfinn to take control of his own destiny by doing that one thing. Snake sensed that Thorfinn was giving up too easily.
Ragnar Was Canute’s Trustworthy Bodyguard
Canute could always count on Ragnar to protect him. When dealing with Canute’s foes, he was unyielding, but he treated the prince with kindness. When it comes to the heroes of the Vinland Saga, Ragnar is right up there. He is completely dependable, trustworthy, and puts duty above everything else.
When it came to protecting Canute, Ragnar often found himself at odds with Askeladd and Thorfinn. Unfortunately, he passed away, but happily, Askeladd took over as protector of Canute.
Thorfinn Karlsefni Redeemed Himself With Honor
During his time in Askeladd, the antihero Thorfinn Karlsefni did not behave in an honorable manner. He would insult or physically harm anyone who stood in his way of exacting revenge. On Ketil’s farm, he engaged in deep contemplation and emerged a pacifist determined to build Vinland.
Thorfinn still had the ability to protect himself, but he chose to focus on building relationships and avoiding conflict instead. He also hoped to make amends with everyone, but especially Hild. He evolved into a courageous and selfless figurehead for the colonization of Vinland.
