In the last episode, we saw that Jinshi shared the details of the case Lakan brought to him and asked for Maomao’s help. The case was the metalworker who died recently did not share his secret techniques with his sons who were also his apprentices. The old man distributed his property to his sons but it was quite strange and left a message to stick together always.
The distribution of things was quite unbalanced as the eldest son was given the shack, the middle was given the furniture, and the youngest one was given a fish bowl. Lakan also gave Jinshi the address to the place and Maomao left the next day for a visit with the same guy she went with last time, Basen. They went to the metalworker’s house and found all three brothers there.
The two elder brothers were annoyed and called his father’s will his last prank on them. Maomao then investigated the room and found a few pieces of knowledge here and there and after she put them together she was able to solve what the old man meant by having the tea party together like the old times. The Apothecary Diaries Episode 16 Recap
In the previous episode, we saw that Lakan brought up the thing that was troubling him, or more like he wanted to test Maomao by himself so he sent her on the metalworker’s case. Jinshi explained the situation to Maomao and then she left for the metalworker’s house the next day to gather as many details as she could.
The elder brothers were not happy as they thought the distribution of things was not equal and their father only cared about their younger brother as he was the one who had the talent for craftmanship. Maomao examined the room and found out that something was misplaced from the table and she also got to know about the drawer key not working.
As always she figured it out as the fishbowl was originally placed in front of that window and when filled with water it concentrated the rays of sun on the drawer’s lock. This burned the metal that was intentionally stuck by their father. This all meant that their father wanted to stick them together and work with their skills.
The eldest brother then chose the paperwork while the middle one chose the relations and the youngest one chose to do all the metal work. Back at the palace, Lakan was impressed and said the same to Jinshi. Jinshi asked about the story of that Courtsan and Lakan told him that he should ask Maomao. The episode ended with Jinshi’s strange request to Maomao to do his makeup for him.
