They believe the studio has neglected its loyal fanbase to prioritize the success of Jujutsu Kaisen instead.

Fans Disappointed Over The Cancellation
MAPPA first announced Yuri!!! on Ice: Ice Adolescence back in April 2017. However, the studio has now issued a statement, stating that they have officially stopped production on Ice Adolescence due to “various circumstances.”
Although MAPPA apologized to fans who were eagerly anticipating the film, many disappointed fans still expressed their frustrations on X (formerly Twitter).
The sequel film, which was supposed to focus on Viktor’s character, was first announced in April 2017. Originally planned for release in 2019, it faced multiple delays. Although a teaser trailer was released in Japan in 2019 and globally in 2020, there were no further updates until the surprising announcement of the project’s cancellation.
