An Updated NAME THAT TUNE is Coming Back in the New Year

Fox is bringing back a beloved show to add some cheer to the festive spirit in the New Year. A revamped version of NAME THAT TUNE will premiere on the network in January 2021. The show will join The Masked Dancer on Wednesday nights and air one-hour episodes. Each episode will be divided into stand-alone half-hour segments, where two sets of participants will compete against each other.

NAME THAT TUNE tests the participants’ musical knowledge based on how fast they can guess the song that is being played by the live band.The show was created by Harry Salter and his wife Roberta Sempler Salter in the 1950s for the radio. Its engaging gameplay has made it a hit with families and as a result, the show has been on the air for decades.

In the new season, Tony Award-winning actress Jane Krakowski will be hosting the game show. Grammy Award-winner Randy Jackson will join her as co-host and the musical director of the live band. The filming has begun in Sydney, Australia, with American expats as contestants.

The iconic Bid-A-Note round is coming back in the updated version. The contestant with the most money at the end of the Bid-A-Note round wins the game and has the option to play the Golden Medley bonus round. The Golden Medley players have the chance to win additional cash and prize money worth $100,000.

The new season of NAME THAT TUNE will premiere on Fox on January 6th, 2021, at 9 PM ET/PT.
