Ao Ashi Spinoff Goes on A Break! Announces Continuation of Shun’s Story
With the announcement of the anime adaptation next year and the recent spinoff, everything was going great for Ao Ashi fans. Every fanbase has to face a little hiccup every now and then, but this one brings some good news.

It is rare when a manga goes on a break after just a month of its beginning. Although these kinds of sudden breaks are often worrying, this is not the case here because we do have a solid continuation date.
Ao Ashi’s spinoff manga, Ao Ashi: Brother Foot, by Kobayashi Yuugo will be on a break in the 34th Issue of Weekly Big Comic Spirits. The series will continue its serialization in the 35th issue, which will be released on 2nd August 2021.
Although the reason for the break was not disclosed, the fact that the main Ao Ashi manga is not on a break indicates that the mangaka seems to be doing well.
The spinoff was supposed to be a short branch of the main story with only five chapters. But the fan reception seems to have changed mangaka’s mind.
Shun’s story will now continue beyond the five chapters, but Yuugo has stated that he has not planned the rest of the story yet. Knowing his work, this does not seem to be a thing we should be worried about.

When the author had announced the spinoff about Shun, fans were speculating it to be a monthly affair as Ao Ashi was still being serialized. However, he pulled it off and released the first five chapters of the spinoff with the Ao Ashi manga.
Sports manga always have a bunch of non-main characters that everyone seems to love. The author could make ten more short spinoffs if he wanted to, but for the time being Shun’s story continues.
About Aoashi
Aoashi is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yūgo Kobayashi. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Big Comic Spirits since January 2015.
The story follows Ashito Aoi, a third year middle school student from Ehime, who meets Fukuda Tatsuya, a “J Youth League” coach.
Even though he’s still rough around the edges, Ashito has such amazing potential that he gets invited to participate in his team’s try-outs in Tokyo.
