Beastars Anime’s New Logo Reveals Season 3 Will be the Final Season

Studio Orange surprised fans on Twitter recently with a new logo of the popular anthropomorphic series Beastars. News of this new logo comes along with the reveal of a new arc of the series, and the big announcement is that this arc will be the third and final season.

The official English Twitter account for the animation studio wrote along with the post: “#BEASTARS is getting a new logo! There must be many questions but this is all we can reveal at the time. We hope everyone can join us for the show till the end.”

The studio did not announce any other details regarding the production of the upcoming installment of Beastars. So, for now, we have no set release date for Beastars Season 3. But, seeing as they have released this news, we’re sure more news will follow soon as Studio Orange concluded the post with, “Follow us for future updates.”

Many fans are rather surprised not just at the news of the new logo, but the announcement that the upcoming batch of episodes for Season 3 will be the content of the series’ final season. Paru Itagaki’s manga has itself come to a close.

But the anime series still has a lot of content from the original manga to adapt. So, fans speculate what all the anime will decide to cut out or choose to adapt, or whether it will completely diverge from the source material.

Itagaki launched the Beastars manga, which she both writes and illustrates, in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in September 2016. The manga then ended in October 2020, with a total count of 22 volumes. Viz Media is the distributor of the manga in English to western audiences, and it describes the story as follows:

At a high school where the students are literally divided into predators and prey, it’s personal relationships that maintain the fragile peace. Who among them is a Beastar—an academic and social role model destined to become a leader in a society naturally rife with mistrust?

Last night at Cherryton Academy, an herbivore student was killed and eaten. Among the members of the drama club, the herbivores’ suspicions naturally turn to their carnivore classmates… The prime suspect? Legoshi, a large wolf. But he wouldn’t hurt a fly—or would he? And will dwarf rabbit Haru bring out the beast in him? Or are his feelings for her…something else?

Its anime adaptation was produced by animation studio Orange and began airing in October 2019. It debuted on Netflix in Japan and on Fuji TV’s [+Ultra] programming block and on TV Nishinippon.

The season then debuted on Netflix outside of Japan in March 2020. The anime’s second season arrived in January 2020 and again aired in Japan on Fuji TV’s [+Ultra] programming block. Netflix released the second season outside Japan on July 15.

The anime series Beastars was an instant hit, much like its manga counterpart which achieved massive popularity with 7.5 million copies circulated worldwide as of November 1.

With Netflix helping it attain global attention, the anime received plenty of positive reception both commercially, as well as from critics who were all much taken with the stunning animation, complex themes and well written lead characters.
