Blue Period, Manga About Passion for Art, Announces Anime Series
Blue Period, the manga about the joy of art in mundane life, will soon be receiving an anime series! Anyone who sees Yatora will think he lives the perfect life. Excellent grades and social life – he has the best of both worlds.
Then what is the hollowness that he feels inside himself every day? Only when he stumbles across a painting does he realize that he wants to pursue art. He wants to explore the passion that he is feeling for the first time.
A new official website has opened up for Blue Period, announcing an upcoming anime series. A new illustration by Yamaguchi, creator of Blue Period, was also released.
In the visual, Yatora is drawing a painting that announces an anime adaptation while Ryuji, Haruka, Maki, and Yotasuke surround him.
The anime is likely to premiere this year.
Blue Period has received much praise and attention since its debut because of how beautifully it portrays art’s function in life. Yatora is a talented person, but he feels satisfied only when he starts painting. He replaces words with the strokes of the brush and goes on an unexpected spiritual journey.
Kodansha publishes the manga in its Afternoon magazine. The ninth compiled volume of the manga will be shipped on 20th January. Kodansha also licenses the manga in English, and its second volume was released on 5th January.

The manga has bagged many awards since its debut. It won the 13th Manga Taisho award in 2020.
It won the Best General Manga award in the 44th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2020. The manga also ranked as 314 and 315th on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! male readers list in 2019 and 2020.
About Blue Period
The Blue Period manga is created by Tsubasa Yamaguchi and published by Kodansha. It was first serialized in Afternoon magazine in June 2017.
The Blue Period revolves around the life of Yataro Yaguchi, a highschool student. Yataro looks like a model student on the outside but fights with hollowness on the inside.
He is fascinated by a painting of the Art club and decides to take up art as a profession. His path is filled with obstacles, but he still expresses himself proudly with colors instead of words.
