Mozuku is actually not carrying a valuable art piece but rather a cure meant to help his land’s people fight an epidemic. Mozuku shares that when a severe epidemic hit his land, his teacher developed a cure.
But the Feudal Lord gatekept the cure by charging expensive rates for profit and to strengthen his hold on the land. Disagreeing with the Feudal Lord’s methods, Mozuku’s teacher made a new cure that was cheaper and faster.
But when the Lord heard of this, he banned the cure’s production. Mozuku’s teacher then enlisted seven apprentices, including Mozuku, to travel to different lands and work with his peers to create the new cure and bring it back to their land.
Having heard of this, the Lord hired ninjas- Kurobane and Jujumaru to kill these apprentices. Mozuku’s situation is disheartening as we see him realizing that he’s the only apprentice still alive.
This episode also gives Kawaki much room for character growth. While Kawaki was earlier adamant on not befriending others, and not seeing the goodness of working as a team, this slowly changes in the episode. We see Kawaki appreciating Chocho’s gesture of sharing her lunch with him.

Another learning moment for Kawaki is also when their team is fighting Jujumaru and he seems surprised by how much Chocho trusts Shikadai even with her own life.
This serves as an important scene where Kawaki learns that there will be situations where he won’t be able to work alone. It’s only by working together as a team that they finally manage to defeat Jujumaru.
The episode then ends with Kawaki deciding to go after Kurobane to get back the cure he stole from Mozuku and the other apprentices.
This shows the weight of Kawaki’s improvement as he understands the grave importance of Mozuku’s mission. Kawaki is now willing to give it his all to help Mozuku deliver the cure successfully to his people.
What Can We Expect from Boruto Episode 230?
The title of the upcoming episode is “A Wish”. As Shikadai has to take Chocho back to the village because she got severely injured, Kawaki and Mozuku might face some difficulty in handling Kurobane. Mozuku only knows medical ninjutsu, which is not useful enough in actual combat.
And while Kawaki is determined, that alone won’t be enough. Hopefully, they receive backup in the next episode. In the preview of Episode 230, we see from the dialogue that Kawaki and Mozuku finally catch up to Kurobane.
Kurobane asks if they took Jujumaru down to which Kawaki replies in the affirmative and tells him to return the medicine. But Kurobane is bent on delivering it to his employer.
This triggers Mozuku who scathingly questions how Kurobane could be so heartless to not want to help the people of his own land.
