Can you create your own character in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2? How?
One of the best parts about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is that you can create your own character, a perfectly customized avatar of yourself, belonging to a race of your choice, and fight and travel alongside your favorite Dragon Ball characters!
After Dragon Ball Online and Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi, the 2 Xenoverse games are the first to feature CACs or create-a-characters/created characters. These custom characters are fully player-created and act as the protagonists of the game.
Xenoverse 2 boasts of the most customizable options for your characters. You can choose among thousands of variations, including race, attributes, gender, appearance, height, weight, and costume, among others.
Here’s everything you need to know about Xenoverse 2’s CACs.
How do I create a character in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2?
I. Appearance
i. Race and Gender
From the character creation screen, choose one out of the 8 race-gender options: Earthling Female, Earthling Male, Saiyan Female, Saiyan Male, Majin Female, Majin Male, Namekian, or Frieza’s Race.
For any race you choose, you get your automatic exclusive skills and abilities, which can be boosted and grown through your journey.
The gender options add different attributes as well, for example, Female Majins have a faster stamina recovery than their male counterparts.
Remember, you will also have different combo strings for different races and genders, different recommended Awoken skills and Supers, and different Attribute spreads (ki, ki blasts, strike supers, damage multiplier, health, stamina, melee attacks, etc)
ii. Height
Next, you can choose the height of your CAC by choosing either of the 4 given options. The height affects the HP and movement speed of your character, as well as their ability to perform certain combos efficiently.
The shortest height will have the least health and the most speed, the tallest will have the most health but the least speed, and the 2 in the middle will have balanced health and speed.
iii. Weight/Body Type
There are 3 options for body type which affects strikes and ki blasts. The thinnest CAC will have a 3% bonus damage for ki blasts and an equal amount for strike damage penalty. The heaviest CAC have the opposite, while the middle has neutral damage overall.
iv. Face and Hair
Since the CACs in Xenoverse 2 are totally customizable, you choose the size, shape, and color of your character’s skin, face, hair, eyes, nose, ears, and jaw.
The best part, of course, is hair! We’ve all tried to grow out our hair like Goku but failed miserably. If you’ve chosen the Saiyan race, you can get the Super Saiyan hairdo or something similar, and choose from a wide range of colors, too!
v. Name and Voice
There are 15 voices for males, females, and genderless CACs. This is the voice your character will make during battles and while shouting attack names.
As for CAC names, choose yours wisely since once you give your character a name, it cannot be changed or edited later after you save your CAC.
II. Fighting Style
Once your character is created, you’ll be presented with 3 options to choose from for fighting style: Strike, Ki Blast, and Mixed.
Each fighting style has their own pros and cons and will determine what skills your character will start off with.
i. Strike
The starting moves for Strike include Meteor Blow, Meteor Crash, Super Guard, and Super Front Jump.
ii. Ki Blast
For Ki Blast, everyone’s favorite, it’s Consecutive Energy Blast, Energy Shot, Energy Charge, and Super Back Jump.
iii. Mixed
The Mixed fighting style includes Afterimage, Meteor Crash, Consecutive Energy Blast, and Instant Rise.
III. Equipment
Under the Customize tab in the Lobby, you’ll have the option to change the equipment your character has on. Each equipment has a certain effect on the CAC’s statistics. You can change the color of your clothes here too, but this won’t have any impact on stats.
Here are all the customizable equipment for you CAC:
- Clothing/Color for Upper Bodyand Hands
- Clothing/Color for Lower Body and Feet
- Accessories (doesn’t affect stats)
- QQ Bangs (these are special items made of cloth through the Capsule Corporation time rift and can override all normal clothes stats)
- Super Soul (these special items grant bonuses and special effects that have different Ki Blasts and Limit Bursts depending on which Super Soul you have)
IV. Skill Set
Your skill set consists of 8 slots where you can fill up moves that you will need when you battle.
i. Super Attack
You get 4 slots for Super Attacks. There are also 4 types of Super Attacks: Strike Supers, Ki Blasts, Power Ups/Buffs, and Other.
They consist of melee and short range physical attacks that can be used offensives and also to grab your enemy.
Examples of Super Attacks include Kaioken, Kamehameha Boost, Burst Rush, Mach Kick, Sonic Bomb, Super God Shock Flash, Sonic Rush, Namek Finger, and others.
There are several more that you can get after purchasing downloadable content (DLC). Divine Retribution, Time Skip, and Raid Blasts are awesome.
ii. Ultimate Attack
You get just 2 slots for Ultimate Attacks and they have 3 categories: Strike Ultimate, Ki Blast Ultimate, and Other.
There are also Dual Ultimate skills that you can use along with a partner.
Among the best Ultimate Attacks include Godly Display, Instant Severance (DLC), x100 Big Bang Kamehameha, Timespace Impact, and Dual Final Flash.
iii. Evasive Skills
You have a single slot for Evasive skills, but 4 categories: Strike, Ki Blast, Buffs, and Other. They help you avoid damage and escape from combo attacks. But remember that all Evasive skills cost up to 200-300 stamina.
Good Evasive skills include Psychic Move, Spirit Splash, Time Skip, Absolute Zero, and Chaos Wall.
iv. Awoken Skills
Awoken skills, also known as Transformations are totally ki-dependent skills, most of which are exclusive to different races.
For example, you gotta be Saiyan to go Super Saiyan.
This for me is one of the most exciting parts of Xenoverse 2.
The only downside is, you get only 1 slot for transformations.
Potential Unleashed and Kaioken are available to all races, granting a white and red aura to your CAC respectively. For other transformations, CACs get a blue aura, and their eyes and hair also turn blue.
Needless to say, there’s an obvious bias when it comes to the Saiyan race – they have the most transformations. A Majin could get Purification and a Frieza Golden, but if you have a Saiyan CAC, you can get Future Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Evolved), etc.
However, there are certain transformations that can be unlocked by members of any race. One of them is Super Saiyan God. You need to collect all 7 Dragon Balls and summon Shenron the dragon to grant your wish.
V. Boosts/Attributes
You can gain attribute points through leveling into specific statistics.
There are 6 major types of attributes: Max Health, Max Ki, Max Stamina, Basic Attacks, Strike Supers, and Ki Blast Supers.
VI. Battle Items
After you gain some wins through battles, you can purchase new battle items and gear for your character. Ensure that you get items that complement your character’s skills.
Items are also unlocked once you complete missions. Check your rewards and then fill your slots! You get 4 slots which you can fill; every item from each slot can only be used once per mission.
Can I customize my character after saving?
Once you’ve saved your character preferences, you cannot change them unless you obtain the 7 Dragon Balls and have your wish granted.
All physical choices and names are locked but you can change clothes and other equipment.
How many custom characters can I create in Xenoverse 2?
The maximum number of created characters you can make in Xenoverse 2 is 8. You can use 1 slot for each race and gender.
Some players require more slots, so the one thing you can do is delete the slots you don’t use much to create more characters with a different set of chosen skills.
For example, the Male Majin isn’t much use to most, so instead of him, create another Saiyan.
Do I have to play with CAC or can I use default characters?
The main story mode of Xenoverse 2 requires you to use created characters. But in parallel quests/out-of-story missions and player-versus-player modes, you can use characters from the Dragon Ball series itself.
In the VS/PvP gaming mode, you can operate playable characters from the cast. These include Goku (including his various forms like Goku Black, Goku Ultra Instinct, and Goku Super Saiyan God), Vegeta (Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan 4), Jiren, Kefla, Broly, and others.
