Today we are here to answer one of the most asked question on the Internet, Will there be a Chainsaw Man Anime? And If yes then what is the release date?
Recently, we are seeing a surge in anime adaptations of dark theme manga. The forerunner of this is definitely Attack on Titan Season 4. We have titles like Akame ga Kill and Jigoku Shojo and Yuasa’s Devilman Crybaby.
Most recently, we got MAPPA’s Dorohedoro and Citrus’ Made in Abyss, which gave us an amazing portrayal of a mature manga. Berserk is an example too, along with Kingdom. And now, we have Chainsaw Man Anime – the darkness of Weekly Shonen Jump.
The thing about mature anime is that they are either heavily censored or distilled heavily. This makes the experience subpar and they tend to take losses, which in turn, discourages the creators from making more. This is why the amazing manga like 20th Century Boys and Oyasumi Punpun was never adapted.
Chainsaw Man Anime is set to air and if done right, it can be the anime that starts a huge influx of more serious anime. Netflix tends to fund this type, owing to their mature viewer age.
Chainsaw Man is the darkest and most grotesque series in Weekly Shonen Jump – but if Blood C can be adapted, why not this? Not to mention that the quality of Chainsaw Man manga is very good.
There are news about Solo Leveling Anime and unOrdinary anime getting adapted soon as well, so why not Chainsaw man?
Chainsaw Man Anime Announcement:
There has been no official announcement of the Chainsaw Man Anime yet. But then why are we publishing this article? Whatever we are going to say ahead, please take it with a grain of salt. The twitter account of popular youtuber YonkouProductions said that there will be a Chainsaw Man Anime.
Again, why does that matter in the slightest? It matters because Younkou Productions in an industry insider. His info is generally right – he is the guy who reveals the anime before they’re announced. We have proof; he told us about both Jujutsu Kaisen and Act-Age anime and within a few days, both of them got announced.
Here is the tweet from him :
It is very likely that Chainsaw Man Anime will be announced soon after the COVID situation is handled properly; the pandemic has put a damper on the anime industry with loads of titles getting rescheduled, even delaying a popular anime like The King’s Avatar Season 2.
What Is The Chainsaw Man Anime Release Date?
We are hoping to get an announcement of Chainsaw Man Anime in 2021. With that, we can have the anime airing by late 2021 or early 2022. But before that, a few conditions need to be satisfied.
We need Producers – since YonkouProd announced it, we are pretty sure that the anime already has substantial producers invested already.
Next comes the Licensors – Netflix seems very likely. Yes, it might just be a Netflix Original just like the upcoming Kengan Ashura Season 3. Let us hope there is no CGI – fingers crossed.
We will have a studio announced as well – maybe MAPPA since they have already adapted darker anime. But Madhouse, Science Saru, Production I.G, Asread can do it too. They all have experience handling messy and violent series.
We will not know the director, casting, music scores, and so on until the anime is announced and details are revealed – but in due time, it is bound to happen. We will keep you posted on all updates.
Chainsaw Man Anime Season 1 Premise:
Chainsaw Man manga is written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto and serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Admittedly, the manga has very dark undertones. It is filled with gratuitous violence, limitless bloodshed, occasional ecchi and nudity, teenage fantasies and so on. Almost seems like it doesn’t belong to Weekly Shonen Jump.
The story follows a young boy named Denji, living in a world of monsters. Denji has been repressed and tortured his whole life due to being heavily indebted. Owing to dire circumstances, Denji is forced to merge with the devil dog called Pochita. Denji turns into the Chainsaw Man : by pulling the string on his chest, chainsaw comes out of his body and he wrecks everything.
Denji is employed under Devil hunter Makima, on whom he has a major crush. Denji meets Aki and Power, who go on to become the main support cast. Denji’s journey consists of killing nasty devils and fulfilling his fantasies – but no good thing lasts long. Pretty soon his life is turned upside down and turmoil comes crushing down on him.
Chainsaw Man Season 1 will probably adapt the manga up to the bomb girl arc – it will contain most of the manga’s primary elements and hype the audience up for the madness that comes next. With 24-26 episodes, the anime can decently adapt multiple arcs and deliver a very solid and exciting story to the audience.
Let’s all hope that we hear the good news soon regarding the anime for Chainsaw Man. We will keep you updated and don’t forget to share this article on all your social media handles and keep visiting Orianime for more anime news articles like this.
