The 10-episode live-action series has adapted the cult classic with 90% accuracy (not 100% because no one can compete with the original Cowboy Bebop anime), and honestly, it’s not that bad. So, good job Netflix.

Since the excitement for the release was off the charts, the franchise calmed us down by releasing some exclusive footage and making an exciting announcement.

Netflix posted an exclusive clip from the Cowboy Bebop live-action series on its official Netflix Geeked Twitter handle a few hours before the show’s global premiere.

The clip starts with a hilarious conversation in which Spike Spiegel explains to Jet Black how a bidet works before Faye Valentine intervenes. The gambling-addicted con artist Faye lets the duo in on a trending bounty with a big loot and tries to make a deal.

Spike and Jet are hesitant to believe her initially but agree after seeing the news headlines announcing the same bounty that Faye told them. Being a con artist, we all know that Faye will betray them, but that’s the whole point of her character.

We all know that she’s eventually going to join the Bebop crew, so what’s the harm if she takes a ship and Ein from them.

The streaming giant also made a big reveal that we all have desperately been waiting for. YES, IT’S ABOUT ED!

Netflix kept Ed’s presence in the show as a surprise until the very end and made the character non-binary *aggressively waves my pride flag*. Ed’s gender identity has always been a big confusion, and I am glad that the live-action has given them their proper pronouns.

They will appear in the show’s ninth episode but will be getting a much more significant role from the following season.

I know many weebs might argue with me when I say that the live-action series looks pretty promising. The staff and cast tried to capture the essence of the anime as much as possible with all the fighting scenes and jazz music, and it looks pretty good too.

So I’d say give this one a try, and there’s a slight chance that you’ll regret it.

About Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese animated science-fiction television series animated by Sunrise. The series premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo from April 3 until June 26, 1998, broadcasting only twelve episodes and a special due to its controversial adult-themed content.

Set in the year 2071, roughly 50 years following a calamity (that’s nearly 2020!) that makes Earth uninhabitable, the series follows 5 of a crew of bounty hunters.

With humans scattered across Earth’s immediate cosmos, Inter Solar System Police hires the likes of this crew to help hunt criminals. For the right price, these rag tags will even save the world if need be.
