DBS: Super Hero Trumps Broly to Reach Top 5 in the U.S.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film is finally out for the world to see, and the hype for it is crazy. Despite being a Dragon Ball movie, it features Gohan as the main character instead of Goku and his journey to recover his lost power.

Although the movie faced some backlash in Japan, it’s balancing those losses with its enormous global success.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero has worked through the setbacks and beaten its predecessor Broly to reach the top 5 anime films in the U.S.

Watching the film was another experience, considering how Toriyama fulfilled his promise of giving us a different story and animation. Those key factors made it one of the highest-grossing anime movies of all time at the U.S. box office.

After the unexpected loss at the Japanese box office, there wasn’t much hope left for the film to do well overseas. However, it made a strong comeback from day 1.

On its opening weekend in the United States, the movie earned over US$4 million and continued to have constant sales. Broly has grossed US$30,712,119 during its time and ended up entering the top 5, and Super Hero has surpassed it by earning US$30,761,982.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero turned the tables around during its second weekend and came awfully close to Broly’s sales. Lastly, due to inflation and an increase in fans enabled the movie to beat Broly’s record.

After Super Hero, I’m really looking forward to what the franchise does next to outshine this newly set milestone.
