Digimon Adventure: 2020 Ends After Battle Between Abbadomon and Omnimon

The final battle was probably the best fight in the entire franchise and also marked the anime debut of Omegamon Alter-S. The creators went out of their way not to make it a Taichi and Yamato show, and everyone had a significant role to play in the fight.

One of the best scenes, though, was the rebirth of Abbadomon after Omnimon states how it might turn out to be good next time.

Abbadomon’s actions seem to have connected the real and digital world. Digimons can now exist in the real world and be perceived by normal people.

All that said, the expected bittersweet after-taste was mostly bitter for fans of the original.

While everything was better in the animation and other production aspects, the story and the characters were lackluster compared to the 1999 version. The reboot got rid of all the motivations and hardships all of the children faced before entering the digital world, and the Digimon were just used as weapons with little personality.

Some of this bitterness also comes from the fact that the creators have betrayed the Digimon Adventure fanbase time and time again. We know all about the Tri movies, but that isn’t the end of it.

When the Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna came out last year, it was supposed to be Taichi and Agumon’s last adventure, but it didn’t even take them a month to announce the reboot and use the same line once again.

Fans of the franchise have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming Digimon Ghost Game anime which coming very soon.

Hopefully, this will mark the end of the Digimon Adventure story. Let’s just pray that they don’t get their hands dirty with Digimon Tamers.

About Digimon

Digimon, short for “Digital Monsters,” is a Japanese media franchise offering toy pets, manga, anime, games, films, and even a trading card game. The franchise was created back in 1997 as a series of virtual pets, influenced by Tamagotchi/nano Giga Pet toys.

The franchise gained momentum with its first anime, Digimon Adventure, and an early video game, Digimon World, both of which were released in 1999.

Digimon, the series focuses on monsters like creatures, who inhabit a “Digital World,” a parallel universe that originated from Earth’s various communication networks. Digimon hatch from eggs called Digi-Eggs, and they go through Digivolution, which changes their appearance and increases their powers over time.

The effect of Digivolution, however, is not permanent. Digimon who have digivolved will find most of the time revert back to their previous form after a battle or if they are too weak to continue. Most of them can even speak.
