Disney+ to Revive Darkwing Duck in New Series
Darkwing Duck might be returning to televisions soon. It has been reported that Disney+ is rebooting the 90s show and the new series is now in the very early stages of production. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Alex McAtee are serving as executive producers for the reboot. Disney+ has not announced a premiere date for the new series yet.
The original Darkwing Duck series debuted on Disney Channel in 1991 and had three successful seasons. Ninety-one episodes about the superhero duck were aired in the early 90s. However, his most recent appearance was in a special episode of its more successful spin-off, Duck Tales. Shortly after, the news of the reboot was announced.
In the 90s show, Darkwing Duck was a superhero who lived in a suburban neighborhood, with his adopted daughter Gosalyn, under the alter-ego Drake Mallard. He fought crime with his partner and sidekick Launchpad McQuack and Gizmoduck. Mallard often had a tussle between his egotistical fame-craving side and the side that wanted to be a good father to Gosalyn. On most occasions, his good side prevailed.
Jim Cummings, Christine Cavanaugh, and Terry McGovern were the main voices behind the 1990s show. It is not known whether Cummings and McGovern will be coming back to the new show, however, Cavanaugh is no more.
