A Silent Voice

Shoko Nishimiya, A deaf elementary school girl, meets a boy named Shoya Ishida in her new class. Shoya, who is not deaf, leads the class in bullying Shoko because she is deaf. After graduating from elementary school, they do not speak to each other. Later Shoya decides he must see Shoko once more. Shoya wants to make amends for what he did in elementary school and be Shoko’s friend.

The short examines the causes and repercussions of bullying that is rife in Japan. A Silent Voice took home the 2016 Tokyo Anime Award for Anime of the Year and the 2016 Japanese Movie Critics Awards for Best Animation Feature Film.

Demon Slayer

The anime is about a family that is attacked by demons and only two members survive. Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko,  is turning into a demon. Tanjiro sets out to become a demon slayer to avenge his family and cure his sister.

Comic Book Resources placed Demon Slayer second on a top anime list and praised the story’s protagonists. They called them the most appealing male and female leads of the decade. The anime series also came in first place on Japan Web Magazine.
