Fox Picks Up This Country For 2021-22 Season

Fox has officially begun preparing for the 2021-22 season by picking up its first show – This Country. The new show is a mockumentary that is based on the positively reviewed UK series of the same name. Mockumentaries have been major eyeball-pullers in the last two decades of television history. Will This Country be the next big show on the list of America’s favorite mockumentaries, after The Office and Parks and Recreation?

According to a press release by Fox, This Country will focus on two cousins Kelly (played by Chelsea Holmes of At What Cost?) and Shrub Mallet (played by Sam Straley of The Kids Are Alright) and their peculiar surroundings. A documentary crew goes to their small hometown and records the lives of young adults. The British comedy was set in an isolated countryside and much of the show revolved around the singularity of living in a society like that.

The American version of This Country will be directed by Paul Feig, who is behind productions like Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and A Simple Favor. It stars Lethal Weapon alum Seann William Scott, The Boys star Aya Cash, Kim Possible actress Taylor Ortega, YouTuber Krystal Smith and Justin Linville.
