Frieren wanted to move to a safe place after catching Stille but it would not be possible in Frieren Beyond Journey’s End Episode 20 as the old man and his party were trying to pin down their location all this time and when Frieren used the binding magic, they got their exact location. The fight will happen in the upcoming episode.
In the last episode, we saw that the mage exam already started and the participants were given two days to catch a Stille bird. Fern and her party which includes Ubel already captured a Stille but now they had to protect it from other mages. Frieren, Kanne, and Lawine spent their day observing the bird and there were so many difficulties posed in front of them.
We also saw a flashback from the time when Himmel the Hero and his party were about to fight a dragon. Frieren then told Kanne and Lawine that she experimented on a spell and they might have to chance to catch a Stille. Then Frieren told about the folk magic binding spell she used to save Kanne last night when she was attacked by the monster.
Then they made a plan to catch the bird, Lawine called it risky but it was worth the risk as they did not want to get disqualified in the very first round of the exam. On the other side, Fern’s party was attacked by the fifth party when they were looking for drinking water. Frieren’s plan worked and they were able to catch Stille but there was someone who already read through their plan and now they will be facing them in a battle for the bird. Frieren Beyond Journey’s End Episode 19 Recap
In the previous episode, we saw that the fourth party was able to capture the bird but it was not shown how while Frieren’s party was still empty-handed but they noted all the points and things that are there to be known about Stille. They knew that they could fly faster than the sound of the speed and also they could detect any amount of mana.
Frieren, Lawine, and Kanne then constructed a plan and they froze the whole lake. Some mages tried to unfreeze the lake but there was an intelligent man and he said that Stille would never come near this source again as this has been imbued with mana. Lawine froze the lake while Kanne released very little mana in all the other water sources.
Now, it was just a matter of time before when a Stille would appear and fortunately, it appeared and Frieren was able to capture it with the folk magic binding spell. At that time they did not notice but someone was keeping an eye on them and the girl from the old man’s party was in front of them in no time.
Fern and her party were also attacked by the 5th party to steal the bird from them, the fight is still ongoing. There were monsters in the area and some hunters were killed by them. The first class mage exam is quite dangerous it seems and it also looks like some of the mages are out there for the blood.
