Gintama THE VERY FINAL Film to Receive DVD and Digital Release in 2022
Gintama has announced a finale to the anime multiple times, and each time it was more convincing than the last.

So, when Gintama’s THE VERY FINAL film was released in January 2021, fans still did not believe that the cheeky series would end.
The movie broke Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s reign at the box office and piqued the interest of many. Although the film has already been screened in theaters, it’s time to reach fans in their homes.
Gintama THE VERY FINAL film will receive BluRay and DVD release on February 8, 2021. The anime movie will also be released digitally on January 25, 2022.
Eleven Arts and Shout! Factory are licensing the film for DVD and digital release. The DVD and BluRay sets will come with a 16-page booklet. This extra booklet will include character art as well as storyboards of the anime.
Eleven Arts premiered Gintama THE VERY FINAL movie in North American theaters on November 21-22 with both English subtitles and dub.
The movie starts with all the characters going crazy with Dragon Ball, One Piece, and other anime parodies.
They have done so many caricatures that they are confused about who they are supposed to be. The film cuts to the chase later, but don’t expect serious or emotional stuff from Gintama.

Gintama: The Semi-Final is a two-episode prequel to the movie that was released after the film.
It is always hard to say goodbye to a long-running franchise, especially if it has been your free therapist. Will Gintama come back with another sequel or OVA? It’s hard to say, but I’ll definitely be waiting for it.
About Gintama
The story is set in an alternate-history late-Edo period, where humanity is attacked by aliens called ‘Amanto.’ Edo Japan’s samurai fight to defend Earth, but the shōgun cowardly surrenders when he realizes the aliens’ power.
He agrees to an unequal contract with the aliens, placing a ban on carrying swords in public and allowing the invaders to enter the country.
The samurai’s swords are confiscated, and the Tokugawa bakufu becomes a puppet government.
The series focuses on an eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata, who works as an odd-jobs freelancer. Although the story is mostly episodic, a few story arcs and recurring antagonists develop.
