Halo: Original Cortana from Games to Join TV Series

A familiar voice is coming back to the Halo TV series. After Natascha McElhone, who was previously slated to play the roles of both Cortana and Dr. Catherine Halsey, dropped out because of a conflict in schedule, veteran actress Jen Taylor has signed up to voice the fictional AI from the Halo games universe. Natascha McElhone will still appear as Halsey in the tv series.

Jen Taylor has been a part of many popular video game characters in the past. She provided her voice to Zoey in Left 4 Dead, Cate Archer in No One Lives Forever, Atomic Wonder Woman in Infinite Crisis, and Princess Peach in the Mario games. She has been connected to the Halo franchise for a long time. Taylor has been the voice of Cortana in almost all of the main Halo games- from Combat Evolved in 2001 to Halo: Infinite, which is scheduled to release in 2021.

The first few installments of the Halo video games revolved around the adventures of Master Chief John-117, his army of super-soldiers called the Spartans and his blue-tinted AI partner Cortana. They fight an intergalactic war with an alien race called the Covenant to discover the secrets of the Halo Array.

The first game became so popular that it spawned dozens of sequels and spin-offs in later years. Twenty years after the first game was released, Halo is considered to be a genre-defining game. The Halo franchise became one of the most successful and highest-grossing media franchises of all time.

Although it was decided that a TV series would be made in 2013, not much headway was made for its production before 2018. In 2019, the series found its director in Otto Bathurst. In the same year, Pablo Schreiber was cast as Master Chief, Bokeem Woodbine as Soren-066, Shabana Azmi as Admiral Margaret Paragosky and Yerin Ha as Kwa Ha.
