The upcoming musical drama will cover the “The Los Angeles Connection” arc from the original anime, which took place during the first five episodes.

Musical adaptations of anime have almost always been successful. Franchises like Sailor Moon have especially found enormous success from their musicals even in the west.

These musical adaptations are almost always a hit when compared to their simple live-action adaptations.

The fans were somewhat relieved when the show decided to go the musical route rather than straight-up live action. It will be amazing to see some unexpected entrances accompanied by some dramatic songs.

About Great Pretender

Great Pretender is an original Japanese anime television series produced by Wit Studio, directed by Hiro Kaburagi and written by Ryota Kosawa.

The series revolves around Makoto Edamura and Kudo, a duo of partners in crime who are supposedly Japan’s greatest swindlers/con-artists.

They try to trick a Frenchman, but they get out-swindled by him as he turns out to be Laurent Thierry, a much higher-level ‘confidence man,’ in control of the mafias.

A bigger picture opens for Edamura once he starts getting engaged in the Frenchman’s dirty jobs.
