HIDIVE Announces ‘Oshi no Ko’ Anime Acquisition at Anime NYC
The reality of the idol industry is far darker than we can imagine, and ‘Oshi no Ko’ is a prime example.
Beginning with the murder of popular idol Ai by an obsessed fan, the story goes above and beyond to include supernatural elements and make it even more thrilling.
Speaking of thrills, the streaming service HIDIVE consistently brings us the most exciting titles. Keeping with the theme, the company has a special announcement regarding this anime.
HIDIVE revealed during its Anime NYC panel that it has obtained streaming rights for the ‘Oshi no Ko’ anime for 2023.
For the time being, the company has only acquired the streaming rights and will reveal more details about the dub and sub versions later. This also implies that the anime has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks.
The franchise intends to reveal more information about other streaming networks in the near future. The anime’s pilot episode, as previously announced, will be a 90-minute special starring Rie Takahashi as the idol Ai.
In terms of the plot, it includes everything from reincarnation to music, and it’s amazing how well all of those genres blend together. It all starts with a pregnant Ai being admitted to the hospital under the care of a doctor named Goro, who is also one of her biggest fans.
Goro promises to deliver Ai’s twins safely, but is murdered a few days before the due date by the idol’s obsessive fan. Goro is brought back to life as one of Ai’s babies named Aquamarine, with all of his memories from his previous life intact.
Ruby, Ai’s second twin and Goro’s sister, is introduced as the story progresses.
When Ruby and Aquamarine are children, Ai is assassinated by the same obsessive fan who discovers the idol’s pregnancy and children. Aquamarine’s life as a part-time detective begins here, with him determined to exact revenge on his mother.
If you enjoy murder mysteries, you will definitely enjoy this one.
