One of the major problems with authors who want to create manga is the illustration process. This issue is about to get solved, so you need only focus on the story.

Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app is debuting a one-of-a-kind service called World Maker, where you can create your own manga. A small video is also posted to show you the functions of the new app.

A unique feature of this app is that you can choose from a vast range of pre-drawn backgrounds, characters, and effects. With this, you can comfortably create manga through even your smartphones or tablets.

Some of the features in World Maker are:

  • You can fit texts in dialogue bubbles.
  • Base character designs are available to choose from.
  • Backgrounds of manga available.
  • Effects can be customized to suit each unique creation.

Of course, the surprise doesn’t end here, as the app is holding a competition amongst all app users, urging them to make their own manga through World Maker.

Two winners will be selected amongst all users who can have their works illustrated by Shiro Usazaki or Kouji Ooishi. The two chosen works will then be published on the Shonen Jump+ app.

The competition is open from September 8 to October 8, and a $2,731 prize is on the line.

Shiro Usazaki was the illustrator of the Act-Age manga while Kouji Ooishi is the mangaka behind Chou Kochikame, Inumarudashi, and other acclaimed works.

After the Act-Age author’s scandal, illustrator Shiro Usazaki stood firmly with the victim, and fans have been awaiting his return ever since then.

With this new project, the artist can finally make a comeback to the industry and maybe even find a new author to partner up with.
