In/Spectre Debuts a New Key Visual Ahead of Season 2
There was the release on December 6 of a second key visual for season 2 of the In/Spectre anime. On January 8, 2023, the season will premiere in Japan. The show is adapted from Kyou Shirodaira’s books of the same name, which are supernatural mysteries.
The novel series, published by Kodansha, began in 2011, and as of December 2021, there are a total of five volumes available.
Cast members Akari Kitou (Kotoko), Mamoru Miyano (Kuro), and Mayumi Sako (Rikka Sakuragawa) are all back for the new season. Aoi Yuuki, who plays Yuki-Onna, and Makoto Furukawa, who plays Masayuki Muroi, are two new cast members.
The story follows protagonists Kotoko and Kuro as they develop extraordinary abilities after being touched by supernatural beings known as yokai. Both Kotoko and Kuro have extraordinary abilities, but acquiring them comes at a high personal cost: Kotoko must sacrifice an eye and a leg, and Kuro’s family life is in shambles.
In order to overcome the challenges they face from the afterlife, the two decide to join forces after each of them gains access to their newfound abilities.
The premiere of the second season had been scheduled for October but was pushed back. Keiji Gotoh of Brains Base Studio is directing this season, and Noboru Takagi of that studio is composing the soundtrack. Character designer and new head animator Kentarou Matsumoto has taken over for Takatoshi Honda.
Tokyo MX, BS NTV, Animax, and d anime store will all be carrying the show.
In/Spectre: Kyokou Suiri
Kyo Shirodaira’s In/Spectre (Kyoko Suiri) novels are demonstrated by Hiro Kyohara (Volume 1) and Chasiba Katase (Volumes 2–4). (Vol. 2 onwards). It has also been syndicated in a manga adjustment by Katase since April 2015. On January 11, 2020, an anime adaptation of the series premiered, with a season 2 set to follow in 2023.
Kotoko was 11 years old when she was abducted by youkai, who sacrificed her eye and leg to turn her into a conduit between the spirit world and the human one.
Youkai now travel to Kotoko whenever they have a problem they need resolved. Kuro, who she develops feelings for and who may harbor some sort of hidden power, joins her.
