This musician and dancer duo took Japan by storm in the bygone days and might have been the closest to what we call pop stars. Their music has enchanted all generations of their time, and now, it is here to take your heart by storm.

The Inu-Oh anime film will premiere on May 28, 2022. The film has also been licensed for theatrical release in Asia, Noth America, France, the U.K., and Benelux by ASMIK ACE.

It is yet another superb creation by Masaaki Yuasa. As the director and creator of  Ride Your Wave and other such anime films, I do not doubt that his upcoming project will be no less of a hit.

Just to give you a taste of the film’s titular character, a new trailer has been revealed, which will show you the unique persona that is Inu-Oh.

As the clip begins, Inu-Oh can be seen running around in wild abandon through the town streets. His characteristically long right arm helps him climb roofs easily. To be honest, the lack of judgment and surprise among local people about his appearance is very refreshing.

In the video’s second part, you can see the huge fan following Tomona and Inu-Oh have amassed together.

About Inu-Oh

INU-OH is a musical anime feature film of Hideo Furukawa’s Heike Monogatari: INU-OH no Maki (Tales of the Heike: INU-OH) novel. The film will make its world premiere and compete in the Horizons (Orizzonti) category at the 78th Venice International Film Festival.

Inu-Oh is born with unique physical characteristics, and the horrified adults cover every inch of his body with garments, including a mask on his face. One day, he meets a boy named Tomona, a blind biwa player, and as Tomona plays a delicate song of tangled fate, Inu-Oh discovers an incredible ability to dance.

Inu-Oh and Tomona become business partners and through the songs, Inu-Oh mesmerizes his audiences on stage, and gradually begins to transform into someone of unequaled beauty. But why is Tomona blind? Why was Inu-Oh born with unique characteristics?
