Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Top Manga of 2023 Revealed
If you’re reading this, then the answer is “Kono Manga ga Sugoi!” Every manga fan awaits the release of the guidebook rankings. While this annual ranking of manga series may not seem like much to the uninitiated, it is revered by the otaku subculture.
The guidebook, also published by Takarajimasha, is very similar to their bestseller, “Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!”
Following are the top manga of 2023, as ranked by the annual Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook.
For starters, here are the top-rated series by men:
Title | Author |
The Summer Hikaru Died | Mokumokuren |
Goodbye, Eri | Tatsuki Fujimoto |
Takopi’s Original Sin | Taizan 5 |
Akane-banashi | Yūki Suenaga and Takamasa Moue |
Gekiko Kamen | Takayuki Yamaguchi |
Kore Egaite Shine | Minoru Toyoda |
Super no Ura de Yani Sū Futari | Jinushi |
One Piece | Eiichiro Oda |
You and I Are Polar Opposites | Kōcha Agasawa |
Midori no Uta: Shūshū Gunfū | Gao Yan |
One Piece was included despite stiff competition from some excellent new shows. There must be a good reason why everyone considers this the best manga ever.
Then, we have series rankings for female readers:
Title | Author |
Tenmaku no Jadūgal: A Witch’s Life in Mongol | Tomato Soup |
Gene Bride | Hitomi Takano |
Serious Office Worker | Umeko Fuyuno |
Onna no Ko ga Iru Basho wa | Ebine Yamaji |
Star Tripper | Sakana Sakatsuki |
Umi ga Hashiru Endroll | John Tarachine |
Busu Nante Iwanaide | Araka Toaru |
Taiyō Yori Mabushii Hoshi | Kazune Kawahara |
Tamon-kun Ima Docchi!? | Yuki Shiwasu |
Watashitachi wa Mutsū Renai ga Shitai | Yukari Takinami |
Fujimoto’s manga Look Back was the most popular with male readers in 2019, and his manga Chainsaw Man will likely do the same in 2020. Even though the mangaka’s “Goodbye, Eri” ranked second this year, making the list for the sixth year in a row is quite an accomplishment in and of itself.
John Tarachine’s ‘Umi ga Hashiru Endroll,’ which was #1 with women readers a year ago, has fallen to #6 this time around. Tomato Soup’s “Tenmaku no Jadgal: A Witch’s Life in Mongol” has replaced it.
