Ames told him that he just wants Mash to succeed in what he plans to do and failure in doing so would result in heavy consequences so there is no room for failure here. The Divine Visionary exam was started then and some new faces were introduced. The exam will start in the next episode.

Mashle Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
The third episode of Mashle Season 2 showed that Orter was already planning to stop Mash after he had to give him a chance to prove himself at the Divine Visionary exam.
