My Hero Academia Goes Pragmatic With Manga’s Latest Chapter 338

Realism and rationality are rare phenomena in a shonen manga, but My Hero Academia stood out for adding this aspect to their story.

MHA is a manga that’s far from what happens in the real world, but it is still more sensible than others of the genre.

With the ongoing UA traitor crisis and the upcoming war, the situation is tighter than ever, leaving no room for emotions and irrational thinking.

AFO is not a villain that heartfelt speeches or deep feelings can sway, and while dealing with someone like him, our heroes have to keep themselves in check. That means no redemption arc for traitors and forgiving them on-spot.

My Hero Academia’s chapter 338 deals with a realistic aspect of the story as Aoyama and his family are sent to receive the appropriate punishment.

Unlike most shonen manga where the traitor is forgiven because it’s a friend and they feel bad about betraying the heroes, MHA turned Aoyama to the authorities. 

Although the students resisted saying that Aoyama could be used to get the upper hand in the war, detective Tsukauchi took Aoyama and his parents away.

Even Kirishima and Deku’s ambitious words couldn’t sway their decision.

Generally, when the protagonists speak out, everyone is moved and agrees with them immediately, but that wasn’t the case here.

Aoyama is guilty of a serious crime and needs to be punished accordingly, no matter his circumstances.

So, remember that motivating speeches and deep emotions aren’t always going to work. Sometimes things need to happen rationally, especially in the case of someone like AFO who doesn’t care about feelings.

The manga has been going pretty smoothly ever since Deku came back to UA, but this just seems like the calm before the storm. There is no way to tell when the crisis will strike them, and everything will go haywire.

I am scared yet excited to know how things will unfold in the upcoming chapters.
