New Trailer for ‘KanColle’ S2 Confirms Early November Release

Kantai Collection or KanColle reimagines iconic Japanese warships as girls who look kawai but can take down an entire country. While the visuals are deceptive, the anime is just as thrilling.

In season 1, we got to see the protagonist Fubuki level up from an amateur to a pro in a span of 12 episodes. It ended with Fubuki and her friends defeating the Airfield Princess in an intense battle.

Fubuki and her fleet are planning a stellar comeback in KanColle season 2, slated for a November 3, 2022 premiere. Toshi Ryūgen will perform the show’s theme song titled, ‘Shigure.’

The promotional video confirms the release date and teases the new adventures lined up for the Third Torpedo Squadron. Along this journey filled with hardships, the girls make some fun and wholesome memories to cherish forever.

Despite their cute appearance, these young girls are fierce warriors that are well aware of the grave aspects of war. Accept it or not, the fights may be immaculate and enjoyable, but the consequences aren’t, and the girls have experienced that firsthand.

The video suggests a rediscovery arc for Shigure amid their crisis. Since she’s an experienced fighter, she might return to her roots and try to improve herself in ways other than combat.

Moreover, the season is listed with eight episodes as the creators wanted to intensify and improve the quality by telling a compact story. Fewer episodes would mean fewer useless plot points and more focus on what’s important.

Besides the apparent bloodshed, the season might try to focus on other, more hidden sides of the crisis. For instance, politics, discrimination, power struggle, and more will probably be highlighted in the new episodes.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the creators have incorporated all of this in the upcoming season.

About Kantai Collection

Kantai Collection, also known as KanColle, emerged as a web browser game in 2013. It received an anime adaptation in 2015 which was followed by a movie.

The anime is set in a world where humanity has lost control of the seas. The Abyssal Fleet has taken over the seas and only Fleet Girls can be of help. Fleet Girls are girls who possess the spirit of naval vessels of the past.

Fubuki, a girl who possesses the spirit of a destroyer, is the protagonist of the anime.
