One Piece Discloses the Real History of Devil Fruits

There has long been a mystery surrounding the nature and origin of devil fruits. We only knew that these fruits gave their owners superhuman abilities and the incapacity to swim at the same time when it came to this mysterious phenomenon.

However, the most recent chapter of One Piece, Chapter 1069, gave us some important information on these overpowered fruits.

Devil Fruits, according to Doctor Vegapunk’s theory in Chapter 1069, are representations of the hopes and dreams of humanity. Devil Fruits’ abilities provide its users superhuman abilities and transform them into extraterrestrial beings in order to grant these wishes.

This hypothesis completely explains how Luffy was able to channel the strength of Sun God Nika, who was revered for saving slaves. It’s because his wish to free the Wano people from oppression was echoed by Hito Hito no Mi.

Devil Fruits are despised by Mother Nature

Vegapunk casually drops the Devil Fruit legend bomb, but continues to develop his theory. He continues by saying that the Devil Fruit users are apparently transformed into “aliens” by the extraordinary abilities they acquire.

This implies that those who eat devil fruit are no longer considered human. Because of the extreme abnormality of their abilities, these extraordinary individuals reside in a realm entirely separate from that of regular humans. They might even be referred to as “gods.”

But because of the very aberrant nature of their strength, they inevitably provoke Mother Nature’s fury. Devil Fruit users are punished by being unable to swim because the properties of devil fruits violate natural laws.

Will more Devil Fruits finally spawn?

After Vegaunk’s startling admission, it is impossible to rule out the prospect of fresh Devil Fruits appearing in the present. There is a good likelihood that new Devil Fruits may materialize if people’s wishes and hopes give birth to Devil Fruits.

However, there are currently very few opportunities for new Devil Fruits to appear. Devil Fruits likely just began to spawn in the distant past. This is clear from the way Sun God Nika, who is associated with the Great Kingdom and Void Century, resembles Luffy’s Gear Fifth Form.

In addition, eventually all of humanity’s dreams will automatically converge. It is only logical that no fresh Devil Fruits will finally spawn if there are no new dreams.

The unique Devil Fruit respawning trait is another argument in favor of the “Devil Fruits being a relic of the past” idea. The same Devil Fruits repeatedly revive; no new Devil Fruits are manifested.

Even Blackbeard’s speech, “People’s dreams never die,” suggests that the same old Devil Fruits might reappear in the present day as a result of people’s dreams.

However, this is only a conjecture at this point, and there are still many more lore disclosures to come.

One Piece

The Japanese manga series One Piece was created by Eiichiro Oda. Since July 22, 1997, it has been published in serial form in Shueisha’s Weekly Shnen Jump magazine.

Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, was the one who owned everything in this realm. His last words before being executed were, “My treasures? I’ll give it to you if you ask for it. Search there for it; I left everything there. Many were inspired by these words to take to the seas in pursuit of One Piece, sailing in the direction of the Grand Line. Hence, a new era started!

Young Monkey D. Luffy also travels to the Grand Line in search of One Piece with the goal of becoming the best pirate in the world. Along the voyage, a diverse group of companions—including a swordsman, a marksman, a navigator, a cook, a medic, an archaeologist, and a cyborg-shipwright—will go with him.
