One Piece Film Red Breaks Franchise’s Earning Record in 10 Days
One Piece Film Red is easily one of the most anticipated movies this year, and its sales speaks volumes about how much fans like it.
On its opening day, the movie sold $16.7 million worth of tickets, and the number kept growing at an alarming pace as days went by.
As of now, One Piece Film Red stands at a whopping $52 million after running for ten days at Japanese theaters. It has even surpassed One Piece Film Z, the 2012 movie which had the highest earnings in the franchise with $51 million, a spectacular amount, given that it was released a decade ago.
The latest movie focused on Shanks’ daughter Uta, and this unexpected storyline drew in a lot of audience. Even Shanks, who is one of the rarest people ever to show his face in the series, is featured.
Eiichiro Oda himself was the executive producer, so the turnout is thrilling but not unexpected.
One Piece: Does Shanks have a daughter? Who is Uta? Is she canon?
Crunchyroll will premiere the One Piece Red Film in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand this fall, and I bet you can barely hold your excitement. The movie will be streamed with both English dub and Japanese audio with English dub.
Recently, One Piece also aired special tie-in episodes which serve as prologues to the film.
Will One Piece Film Red create new history after its worldwide debut? We are yet to know how the movie performs overseas but be prepared to see tickets fly by in an instant in every venue.
