Payday 3’s Early Access period marked by bugs and server crashes

Payday 3 is set for a release on September 21st. Developers Starbreeze had announced that certain players would be able to access the game early from September 18th. However, the early access is not going quite as planned.

Many technical issues occurred when the Early Access for Payday 3 kicked off on September 18th. Payday 3’s account servers struggled to stay online, along with PlayStation 5 players getting an older version of Payday 3 instead of the launch day version.

The Starbreeze Nebula is the platform all players must log into across all platforms to play Payday 3. This platform showed an error, saying that the “servers are inaccessible at the moment.”

Currently, the website is back online with minimal downtime. However, some players are reporting a crash ever so often. The developers have reassured the fans that they are working on a fix to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

PlayStation 5 users who pre-ordered the title cannot play the launch-day version of Payday 3. Instead, they are on an older game version not synced with the other platforms.

This essentially means that Payday 3, as of now, lacks crossplay. Another minor issue is that the players cannot access their in-game rewards and bonuses from pre-ordering.

The fact that in-game content is unavailable is out of Starbreeze’s hands. They said Sony is actively working on a patch to resolve the issue.

Starbreeze confirmed that the rewards were linked to the player’s account, which will be accessible when Payday 3 launches entirely on September 21st.

About Payday 3

Payday 3 is an upcoming first-person shooter game developed by Overkill Software and Starbreeze Studios and published by Prime Matter. It is a sequel to Payday 2, and is also the third installment in the Payday series of video games. The game is set to be released on September 21, 2023.

The game will take place after the ending of Payday 2 where the heisters went separate ways and left their lives of crime, but something re-motivates the Payday Gang to continue the life of crime. The original crew of characters originating from Payday: The Heist (“Dallas”, “Chains”, “Wolf”, and “Hoxton”) will appear in Payday 3, and the game will take place mainly in New York.
