The game will be located in the Hisuian region, present-day Sinnoh region. As the game is a prequel, it will take many years in the past. The game is a single-player game where the protagonist explores and observes Pokémon.
The main player is part of the survey corps and must work as a researcher. The player must explore, catch types of Pokémon, observe and catalog them. Doing so will level up the MC in the Survey Corps and get funds to buy materials. The player starts their journey in the Jubilife village, which serves as a base for the Survey Corps. In addition to the main story missions, the MC can choose to interact with the villagers and help them by clearing requests.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus will the first action role-playing game of the vast franchise. The upcoming game was announced as part of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Pokémon Franchise.
