Rom-com Manga ‘Busu ni Hanataba wo’ Inspires an Anime

I’m sure we’ve all heard that outside beauty fades away, and being beautiful on the inside matters a lot. This inspired Roku Sakura to create the rom-com manga ‘Busu ni Hanataba wo’ based on this philosophy.

Playing around the themes of insecurities, appearances, and romance, Sakura managed to make this story a hit among rom-com lovers. The manga ended in September this year, and now there’s only one thing left to do with it: make it into an anime.

Roku Sakura wasted no time going forward with an anime adaptation of ‘Busu ni Hanataba wo’ and announced it today with a tweet.

A bouquet of flowers for Bush.

I decided to animate!

I can’t thank you enough! Roku

The mangaka will reveal more details regarding the anime’s format, release date, cast, staff, and more later. For now, all we know is that this anime is happening, and we can’t wait for it.

Moreover, the cover of the manga’s 12th and final volume also confirms the anime adaptation. The volume’s wraparound jacket band mentions how the manga is inspiring an anime but does not specify if it’s a TV series or a film.

Since this rom-com is slightly underrated, I’ll help you get familiar with it.

The story follows Hana Tabata, a girl whose name is unlike her appearance, as she doesn’t adhere to conventional beauty standards. Despite Hana’s name meaning ‘flower,’ she bears no resemblance to one, and considers herself ‘ugly.’

Hana’s looks lead her to become a shy, introverted, and conscious overthinker whose insecurities get the better of her. The only thing that makes Hana feel like the heroine of a shoujo manga is when she’s tending to the flower bed in her school and imagining romantic scenarios.

Right when Hana had accepted her reality, her kind and handsome classmate Yousuke Ueno entered the scene. Their cute encounter soon leads to a friendship and then a blossoming romance.

However, can Ueno convince Hana that outer beauty is not everything? That she can have a fairytale romance too?

This sweet love story is bound to make you feel giddy on the inside and even help you realize where true beauty lies.

I hope the anime is a TV series because I don’t think a film will be able to capture the essence of this slow-burn romance.
