Sasuke’s Story: Chapter 2 – Sasuke Delves Further Into The Mysteries Of Redaku

In October, Viz media began publishing the spinoff manga for Naruto: Sasuke’s Story – The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust. One of the most popular and widely-liked Naruto spinoffs to date, Sasuke’s Story is based on Jun Esaka’s Naruto spinoff light novel Sasuke Restsuden.

The events of Sasuke’s story take place after Naruto Shippuden and the plot follows Sasuke as he infiltrates an Astronomy Research Institute in pursuit of a cure for his friend Naruto’s life-threatening illness.

This Naruto spinoff has garnered a large amount attention and praise. Sasuke, being an immensely powerful and relatable character, is one that several Naruto fans adore. Thus, getting a story focused on Sasuke alone after so long has created a frenzy among fans.

The highly anticipated second chapter of Sasuke’s Story was released a day ago and Sasuke’s mission as a prisoner in the land of Redaku continues in this chapter. Before delving into the contents of the new chapter, here is a refresher of what has already happened.

In the first chapter, Sasuke begins his journey to find a cure for the illness that plagues his friend, an illness that even the Sage of Six Paths suffered from once.

He met a woman named Lyla and her mother, Kail, who remembered from a book that Hagoromo had found the cure for this illness in the mysterious and isolated land of Redaku. On finding out that Hagoromo found the cure while at the Tatar Observatory, Sasuke decides to enter the observatory as a prisoner.

The chapter ended with the discovery of a dead body that was being gorged on by a dinosaur-like creature named Meno.

Chapter 2 picks up from where the previous chapter ended, with Meno devouring the dead body while the inmates look on in fear. Sasuke, along with the other inmates, is put to work outside the Observatory by Director Zansul.

While working, Sasuke is joined by his cellmate Jiji. The cellmate informs Sasuke that the land the inmates were working on is meant to house a massive telescope in the future.

Jiji ends up hurting his hand while working, calling himself lucky for winning a trip to the infirmary as there is a new doctor who is extremely beautiful and also single. When asked how he knew the doctor was single, Jiji mentions that she doesn’t wear a ring.

Jiji then mentions how he is envious of Sasuke as the guards seem afraid of him after he defeats them all. It is clear from the blank expressions on the guards’ faces that they seem vary of Sasuke.

Despite no one around knowing much about him, everyone seems to be aware that Sasuke isn’t someone to be messed with.

Even among the inmates, Sasuke tends to stick out. When playing a game with his cellmates that he had never played before, Sasuke still manages win, shocking those around him. The inmates seem to be curious of Sasuke as well.

After winning a bet against his cell mates, Sasuke asks them for a favor. He decided to sneak out of the cell to investigate Meno and asks his cellmates to cover for him in case the guards arrive.

Sasuke believes Meno is a summoned beast and that only Zanzul could have summoned it. While looking around, Sasuke encounters the beast and subsequently discovers that his genjutsu is ineffective against the beast.

During the fight, Sasuke slices off Meno’s right claw and then regrets the decision as he wanted to remain undetected.

The next morning, much to Sasuke’s surprise, he sees Meno standing in the land completely healed, with its right claw attached to it. While staring at Meno in disbelief, Sasuke is approached by Zansul who claims he knows Sasuke is the one to have attacked Meno.

Although he does not outright say it, but Zansul is clearly very curious as to how Ssuke is as powerful as he seems. Zansul is intrigued by him and seems as though he wants to learn more about Sasuke.

Instead of denying the allegation, Sasuke decides to ask questions of his own. However, on attempting to use his genjutsu, Sasuke realises that Zansul is immune to it. Sasuke then notices that the reason for this is that the man has glass eyes.

Zansul then leaves, informing Sasuke that he will be keeping a close eye on him from here on.

In this chapter, Sasuke delves further into the mystery of Zansul and the beast Meno.

After investigating, Sasuke seems to be left with more questions than answers as to how is Zansul powerful enough to summon and control a beast like Meno? How did Meno heal from their fight overnight? Why does Zansul have glass eyes and how to face him if he is immune to genjutsu?

The chapter managed to build up a lot of tension, but readers will have to wait until the third chapter is out for more information on the mysterious Zansul, his glass eyes, and the beast Meno.
