Before understanding Solo Leveling’s Dungeon Ranking System, you first need to know what dungeons there are. The world of Solo Leveling is divided into two worlds: the human world and the chaos world. Humans, including hunters, are living in the human world, whereas all demons and mysterious and supernatural species, including monarchs, are living in a chaotic world.

These two worlds are connected to each other through several gates. Each of these mysterious gates is open in different pocket areas of the chaos world, which are called dungeons. On the other hand, the dungeons are open anytime and begin sending monsters from chaotic worlds to the human world from destruction. As a result, the hunter association sent their hunter group to clear the dungeons as soon as possible before they caused major destruction to humanity.

All the dungeons featured in the series are filled with several types of magical beasts, such as golems, yetis, demons, orks, jackals, ogres, and so on. Moreover, the monsters of dungeons are led by their respective bosses, called Dungeon Boss. As a result, the hunter association brings out a method called “Solo Leveling’s Dungeon Ranking System” to rank all the dungeons according to their threat level and their monster’s power level.

The only reason behind creating Solo Leveling’s Dungeon Ranking System is to measure its threat level and send its hunters accordingly. If the dungeon is filled with incredibly powerful monsters, then they send their high-ranking hunter to clear it. By doing that, they minimized their great loss and saved their low-ranking hunters from dying at the hands of high-threat monsters.

Dungeons are mainly divided into six major ranks, such as S rank, A rank, B rank, C rank, D rank, and E rank. The higher rank is given to those who possess a higher threat to humans, while the lower rank is given to those who possess a lower threat to humans. There are plenty of dungeons featured in Solo Leveling that got ranked by the Hunter Association.

Notes: Solo leveling does not feature any notable D-rank dungeons.

6. E-Rank Dungeon

According to Solo Leveling’s Dungeon Ranking System, E rank is given to those dungeons that are filled with lowest-threat monsters. E-rank dungeons can be cleared by A- or B-rank hunters who are not so strong.

Throughout the series, we just saw a single E-rank Dungeon at Hapjeong Subway Station, which is easily cleared by Sung Jinwoo. This E-rank dungeon is ruled by a C-rank monster, Rasaka, who is a big cobra snake.

5. D-Rank Dungeon

D-Rank Dungeon is the first dungeon feature in the series that leads the way to another dungeon called Double Dungeon. This dungeon is filled with powerful statues created by Architect who have given so much trouble to Sung Jinwoo. In this raid, Sung Jinwoo was just an E rank hunter who knew nothing but later became the strongest and hottest Solo Leveling characters.

4. C-Rank Dungeon

C rank is only given to those dungeons that are filled with medium-threat monsters. There are a total of two notable C-Rank Dungeons featured in the series, such as Goblins Dungeon and Insects Dungeon. The name of these C-Rank Dungeons already indicated what type of magical beast features in the series.

In order to clear these dungeons, almost eight hunters lost their lives. Moreover, Sung Jinwoo is the main hunter behind clearing these dungeons, which shows the Dungeon bosses are quite strong.

3. B-Rank Dungeon

There is only one B-Rank Dungeon called Red Dungeon that appears in Solo Leveling. It is filled with powerful ice magical beasts such as ice bears, ice elves, and yetis and was led by Baruka, an S-Rank monster. You can expect its threat level from the fact that a total of nine high-ranking hunters lost their lives while clearing it.

2. A-Rank Dungeon

According to Solo Leveling’s Dungeon Ranking System, A rank is given to those dungeons that are ruled by S-rank monsters. There are a total of two notable A-Rank Dungeons featured in series such as Busan Dungeon and Hunters Guild Dungeon. One of these dungeons is open within the Hunter guild, one of the strongest guilds in solo leveling, and brings sudden destruction to them.

These A-Rank Dungeons are filled with several powerful magical beasts, such as death knights, twin-headed ogres, orcs, and jackals. Moreover, Arch Leach is the boss in Busan Dungeon, and Kargalgan is the boss in Hunters Guild Dungeon.

1. S-Rank Dungeon

In Solo Leveling’s Dungeon Ranking System, S rank is given to those dungeons that are filled with monsters. These monsters are the biggest threat to humans and bring huge destruction to their world. S-rank dungeons are only cleared by S-rank hunters and higher, who are incredibly powerful and experienced.

There are a total of five notable S-rank dungeons featured in the series such as Double Dungeon, Demon Castle Dungeon, Jeju Island Dungeon, First S-Rank Dungeon, and Tokyo S-Rank Dungeon. As expected from S-rank dungeons, their bosses are not ordinary monsters; instead, they are Monarchs, the Ant King and the Architect.

For example, Tokyo S-Rank Dungeon is led by Legia, who is one of the strongest monarchs in Solo Leveling. In order to clear these high-ranking dungeons, the hunter association lost its countless S-rank hunters.
