‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’: Manga Spinoff Featuring Doc Ock
The new ‘Spider-Man’ film, ‘Across the Spider-Verse,’ is out this week, bringing Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy back into the fold. There will be more Spider-Men in this film than in its predecessor, Into the Spider-Verse. The brand has always had room to grow into other, non-canonical stories.
While the third film is scheduled for release in 2024 and a Spider-Verse feature with a female protagonist is now in development, a new spinoff has been announced, but it is not a film.
Manga adaptation of ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ movie unveiled by Shueisha and Marvel Entertainment on Tuesday. ‘Spider-Man: Octopus Girl’ is the title of Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court’s manga series. The 20th of June will mark its debut on the Shonen Jump+ mobile app.
A prequel and spinoff to the original My Hero Academia manga, ‘My Hero Academia: Vigilantes’ was created by Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court.
The antagonist of “Spider-Man: Octopus Girl”, Doctor Octopus, is first seen in the film in a coma. He awakens in the body of Otoha Okutamiya, a Japanese middle school girl.
Keep in mind that the girl’s name is reminiscent of Doctor Octopus’s real name, Otto Octavius. It’s funny how they never miss an opportunity to call attention to the characters’ names.
Many readers have drawn parallels between this narrative and “Superior Spider-Man”, in which Doctor Octopus also implants his mind into Peter Parker, another superhero. Since it is unknown whether Otoha will turn out to be a good guy or bad guy, the manga’s plot could go in either direction. Having Peni Parker appear as Spider-Man would be a lot of fun.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
In the computer-animated film “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”, Miles Morales takes on the role of the web-slinger. ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ is a follow-up film.
Gwen Stacy reaches out to Miles to warn him about the Spot, a new adversary in the Spider-Verse. When they travel through the multiverse, they come upon a society of Spider-People called the Spider Society, lead by Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099).
