Ten Count BL Anime to Release in Theatres in 2023
On October 28 2022, the official website and Twitter account of the anime adaptation of Rihito Takarai’s manga Ten Count boys-love announced that the theatrical anime will be screened in theatres in 2023.
The anime adaptation originally was set to have a TV premiere in 2020 but was delayed as the staff wanted to further develop the direction of the story.
So Toyama will be the director and screenwriter for the anime, with Tomomi Shimazaki as character designer. The anime will be produced by East Fish Studio and Synergy SP, with Pony Canyon distributing the anime.
The anime’s cast includes Shinnosuke Tachibana as Shirotani Tadaomi and Tomoaki Maeno as Riku Kurose.
Aside from the cast and release date, the website also released a new key visual for the anime.
Ten Count boys-loveis about Shirotani Tadaomi, a corporate secretary who suffers from an obsessive-compulsive disorder that manifests as severe mysophobia.
One day he meets Kurose, a therapist who offers to take him through a ten-step program to cure him of his compulsion. As the two go through each of the ten steps, Shirotani’s attraction to his counselor grows.
The manga written by Takarai was first launched in Shinshokan’s Dear+ magazine in July 2013, and the series finished publishing in November 2017. Viz Media released the sixth and final volume of the manga in December 2018.
The manga ranked first in the 2014 and 2015 lists of Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Boys-Love Comics.
